Only Slug A and B left now here...
Completing the game with the Engi B cruiser was not as difficult as i had expected. After two failed attempts i made it in the third. And finally unlocked the Slug cruiser.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to build an Engi Cruiser actually.

I have just jumped back in, mainly because of this thread, and I have come up with a new stylistic flair, if a ship is down to 1 hull with shields down, target their piloting with your weakest weapon, I call this "The Mercy Kill" or "The Execution" depending on the situation. I think of it as putting a pistol to the head of a crippled enemy, but in SPAAAAACE.
The only unflawed system is Lego System.

Finally killed the flagship. Glaive beam is the shit, and the Zoltan cruiser is my new favourite.

I once made it to the capital ship after a lunch break, but I didn't realise I had turned off the auto fire by accident. Needless to say, I haven't attempted to beat the game again.

You guys played the free expansion yet? I've been getting back into it, and it's great, there's cloning and mind-control systems for fucks sake, and they're both amazing. They've added a type C for all ships and a new ship in and of itself, so there's more playstyles for you. Just my thoughts on it, what'd you guys think?

OH GOD. ARTILLERY CRUISER WITH VULKANS IS A HULL OF UNRELENTINGLY AWESOME PENETRATION.

Seriously, with the 15% weapon cooldown mod, the fact that crew now give a better bonus per experience level -and- can start off with higher bonuses when they are brought/hired or slave-nabbed.

The vulkan also speeds up with each shot it fires, so with two of them going full pelt I turned the flagship into molten slag within a minute and a half.

Cannot love those things enough.

I like to start with the Type A Engi Ship.

The Human is always named "Ballsack". He is in charge of weapons.

My pilot is "Jose", the illegal alien Engi.

My shield man is "Bjorn" the veteran Engi shieldmaster sent back from Engi Valhalla.

I've been playing a MORE DAKKA type of run with the crystal cruiser A, I ended up with full Shields and engines, and 2 burst laser IIs, a pike beam, and a basic flak gun, and beat the flagship in 30mins total.
