Re: Homeworld: Shipbreakers (Deserts of Kharak)
I've finished it yesterday. It's absolutely fantastic. It could have used a few more campaign missions though if you ask me. The ending is a little abrupt.
I couldn't come up with anything smart, original or funny, so <=THIS=> is what you get.
ENJOY IT!!!
ENJOY IT!!!

Thirteen (not counting the tutorial mission).Tzan wrote:How many missions are there?
Yes, I absolutely agree. So much happens between DoK and HW1, I wish they'd delve into it a bit more.Gorthaff wrote:I've finished it yesterday. It's absolutely fantastic. It could have used a few more campaign missions though if you ask me. The ending is a little abrupt.

This one is over a week late, filmed before I fell ill last week - there is one more after this but I'm holding it back as I may not get to record again for a while (say next week - maybe).

Although understandable, full price might be a bit too much, but on sale? Definitely.hatkight wrote:Should I get this game on sale?

Re: Homeworld: Shipbreakers (Deserts of Kharak)
Due to me being ill, the kids being ill and work getting in the way my filming schedule has utterly gone to shit - but here is episode 4.
It's an hour long and most of it is me seething in silence and waiting for shit to happen. So anyone who does sit through the whole thing - I salute you.

Re: Homeworld: Shipbreakers (Deserts of Kharak)
Today I went back to Kharak and ended up loosing my nerves and decided to cut the series off for good - if you sit through this hour long slog like the last one then my hat is off to you. But in the mean time. Fuck this game. SRSLY.

Re: Homeworld: Shipbreakers (Deserts of Kharak)
I hate to see you quit at this stage, Scythe. I haven't accompanied this series yet, but if you need to start with the standard fleet at the beginning of the mission in normal difficulty, you probably missed something along the way, because apart from the last mission, the whole campaign was a breeze (for me at least). I'll try to give you some tips from what I can see on the 5th episode.
You should've had a few squads with more veterancy, like railguns and armored assaults. Those are way more effective and keep their group alive longer too. The way to do that is with large groups of LAVs to fend off Sand Skimmers and to hunt down Gaalsien Heavy Railgun units, since these can use the "Speed Boost" ability, which is very important. Also, when you see your force is not adequate to deal with the enemy, use the AAVs smokes screens to prevent long range units from bothering you and use the dunes to get on their asses up close or on top.
In missions like the Beladin Dune Sea, hit and run tactics are the law, along with aircraft strikes (sense most of those Production Cruisers don't have an AA escort and their anti-air capabilities are quite limited). A well oriented strike can annihilate a whole group of skimmers in one run.
In terms of resources, try splitting up your resource cruisers with 3-4 salvagers assigned to each one, splitting them up also to harvest both CUs and RUs. I usually do this after Rachel recovers an artifact, sense the wrecks drop alot of loot. So, basically the whole of my forces always establish a perimeter for Rachel and the salvagers to do their thing without being pestered. Have a Baserunner drop a few turrets if you feel there's a more exposed flank, those actually pack quite a punch. If you keep doing this through out the campaign, you'll end up pilling a ton of much needed resources for the final missions.
Also, I noticed you had very few artifacts installed on the Kapisi. I can't remember exactly how many I had gathered by then, but once you reach the end of the game, you should have quite a long list of those on board, mainly considering that you use the carrier as a frontline unit (which I only did almost exclusively and rarely against other carriers, you'll know why if you continue the campaign). So, before completing any mission, gather all the artifacts you can.
I hope I didn't sound too cocky, but seeing you not having a good time with the game gives me an itch, sense I had the opposite experience.
