Star Wars RPG: Campaign

Post by RagnarokRose » Mon Sep 05, 2011 4:04 pm

You guys still up for this? I've still had yet to run a campaign in this game yet, but I'd like to put one together.

Yes, Oloth, I've had a bit more experience with forum role playing, so I think this will work this time. We'd be playing the Saga Edition d20 RPG on the fourm. I'll provide the info you need for character creation, although it'll be a bit scarce, being that I don't want to copy the book in. If you have the game that'll be a bit better, aye.

So! The setting would be Old Republic, it'd be a good-based campaign, and nobody gets to be a Sith. There will be four player slots. This isn't a roll-to-dodge, this will be a Role Playing game, which involves playing a character, not winning the game. If you don't think that sounds fun, don't bother. I'll post the creation system when you post that you're interested.

You in?

I'd be interested, as long as turns come every week or so, I don't have time for faster. Also, the rules and stuff kinda have to be embedded in the forum, because I've never played 'Saga Edition'.

he just said it isn't a rtd. If by 'plays like' you mean 'you post orders of what you want your character to do' then I expect that it does play like a rtd.

Also, @ross: how are you going to handle combat? or are we going to be engaging in combat at all?

Combat will be an important part of this. Everything will be behind the scenes though. You'll get a list of combat skills that you can use when combat begins.

Essentially, this is D&D with Star Wars as a setting. I'll post the creation rules in a bit.

Right. Lets get this started.

The basic method behind most rpgs is the ability points. These affect all actions your character makes. Unlike a simple Roll to Dodge system, based around the d6, this is based on the d20. Actions are made and the Game Master sets a goal for the roll to make.

There are several abilities that your character uses.
Strength,
Dexterity,
Constitution,
Intelligence,
Wisdom,
and Charisma.

Each stat starts at 8 points, which is rather mediocre. You have 25 points to assign among them.

There's something rather important that affects your Ability score. This is your character's Species. Star Wars has a multitude of alien races, all subtly different, although languages aren't much of a problem in the universe. Choosing a race other than Human means your ability scores shift, and you gain race traits that enhance your character. Humans thoigh, tenacious creatures that they are, gain an extra bit of knowledge just at the start.
If you want more info on a species, just google it. Really.
The playable species are,
Human,
Bothan,
Mon Calamari,
Trandoshan,
Twi'lek,
and Wookie.

Associated with Abilities is Classes. Classes give you specific skills and class abilities that allow your character to do frigging cool stuff. The classes are-
Jedi,
Noble,
Scoundrel,
Scout,
and Soldier.

At that point, I'll contact you with the details to finish your character.

Backstory then...
••••••••
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away...

It is a time of unrest in the Republic. Battered nearly a decade ago by the apperance of the Sith Empire and the subsequent war that seemingly never ended, the Republic's government struggles to deal with the aftermath of the stalemate. Untrusting border worlds, an uncharted Outer Rim, and civil war deep within all just lend power to the ancient House of Mandolor and their plots against the Republic. The newly formed Grand Council of Jedi, associated with the Republic's highest leaders, wishes to stop the Mandolorian threat before their standing armies become to great a challenge to handle...

You are aboard a large frieght cruiser, inbound from the Ring on it's way to Coursant. Your companions are just travellers from all walks of life. You look up uneasily as a muffled pounding sound echos through the ship...

•••••

So, here's how you make a character.
Name:
Species:
Class:
Ability Scores-
Str:
Dex:
Con:
Int:
Wis:
Cha:
Description of character-
Backstory:
Apperance:
Post this and I'll PM you to complete it. I just typed this entire bloody thing on my iPod, so I'll fix it in the morning.

I LOVE THIS! STAR WARS RPG FTW!

I would very much like a spot, I still have all of my saga edition books so I can make my own character if you wish.

Aye, I've got the books. Count me in and we'll see how this goes.

Also, I'm with Ender on this one. If the turns come too fast, I'll just end up being a burden to everyone else.

EDIT: Been reading more thoroughly. Are we on our way to "Coursant" or "Coruscant?" It's important.

Also I'm presuming we should find our own excuse regarding our presence on the freight ship, yes?

Sounds great. Before you start you must definitifly read This Comic :!:
Is droid a valid race? To use Pete's words: "I'm a state-of-the-art all-purpose non-anthropomorphic utility robot. I'm maxed out on every worthwhile skill, making me superior to any organic entity."

Let's see if I can get this right:

Name: Alec d'Trevelyan
Race: Human
Class: Jedi (dark)

Str:8
Dex:10
Cons:10
Int:18
Wis:10
Char:9

Backstory n' crap:

Born on coruscant, Alec d'Trevelyan was kidnapped by a team of dark Jedi at a young age, and took to a world mainly influenced by the sith. He was trained to use both sides of the force, which left him a sarcastic, angry little bugger. With an undying need to kill things, he happily signed onto a mission to Mandalore...

Wait.

You didn't put the Tech Specialist in your list of classes. Does this mean I can't play one?

Name: Dundaree Vicnar
Species: Trandosian
Class: Soldier
Ability Scores- After racial modifiers.
Str: 13
Dex: 18
Con: 10
Int: 10
Wis: 12
Cha: 10
Description of character-
Backstory: A great hunter, he spends moast of his time roaming from place to place, with little goal beyond the thrill of the hunt. After a run in with some thugs on Tattoine, he was heavily wounded and had to undergo major surgery. He has not been discouraged in the least, and marches on with a bionic left hand and eye.
Apperance: Tall, has a bionic left hand and eye (superficial) and a horribly burnt left side of his body as a whole. His left eye is a bright red, and his mechanicle hand is almost skelatal in nature. He also has a large scar right above his larynx. He is prone to short sentances, both because his wounds make talking slightly tricky, and because he is more suited to actions than words. By this point about half of him is held together with spit.

Excellent, a Trando! Tough bastards. Also, I'd suggest avoid well-armed clones, if you know what I mean.
