If I had that kind of money lying around, I think I'd go for tau, as their look is very appealing to me, and they're pretty powerful in good hands.

Yeah, I'd go Tau as well, mainly because them and the Guard are the only factions with motives that don't scream "THIS IS STUPID".

I played Tau and Dark Angels Marines. I really like the Tau look, but I'm not a big fan of the crisis suit kits (unless they've made newer, more poseable ones). I like almost everything Tau, from the stealth suits to the Kroot to the Piranha. They also have the best Forge World kits, IMO. The alien auxiliaries that are worked into the background provide some good inspiration to make new races that "count as" other stuff.

I like Dark Angels, since they've got that extra Gothic feel to them, with all the robes, swords, and other imagery. Also, their divisions of the Ravenwing and Deathwing add some nice diversity, both in terms of appearance and tactics (although the new Space Marine codex pretty much has them as options for any Marine player).

As you guys know, I play Guard. Fun army, very hard not to look "boring", apparently.

Cadians are just like "yeah he's a sci-fi soldier"

Hey! That's not true at all.

With a good paintjob, some time, and lots of extra bitz, Cadians can look as interesting as any of the other guard regiments. Just because most people out there slap a dumb paintjob on because they just want the tanks does not mean all Cadian players are like that.

No, Vostroyans are the best because they are the most fun to paint.

I have to say, some of those Dark Angel figures look very, very nice for D&D purposes... I've always been a fan of hooded and cloaked figures, but it gets better when they're holding huge-ass swords.

They are 40k's equivalent of the U.S.S.S.R.
