Yes, this was originally posted in Reports from the FIeld. But with all players having on-forum accounts now, and it being a larger battle, I think being a Forum Battle is more appropriate. Here goes!

On the distant planetoid of Azure, resources are scarce, and much of them come from the drifting space debris the asteroid collects. Many wars have been fought over the simplest of items, simply because of their arrival on Azure. One such commodity are Soft Pretzels - warm, tasty, lightly salted works of bready goodness that a thousand knights would die to claim. Many of them did, as legends tell, in ancient wars between the rising Royal Azure Imperium and the dark dynasty of the Dragonblood. However, one Pretzel was left behind in the fallen Tower of Fleyd that has now become home to a host of wild monsters.. and by the power of Koincidence, four parties arrive to claim it at the same time, thus starting the Fifth Great Azurian Pretzel War.

Nearby, a short distance from the Tower of Fleyd

A large, cantankerous vehicle known by environmentalists as 'monstrosity' and to the passengers as 'grandpa's truck' comes to a creaking stop outside of a patch of swampland, fumes pouring out the back of the vehicle as the Hillbillies disembark.

"Paw, I'm hungry!"

"Well, darlin', we're here for a pretzel. You're my little princess, and you can have it all to yourself."

"Awesome! You're the best, paw!"

"Let's get to it, boys! Come on!"

Meanwhile, the Skylink Commandos spec-ops team is assembling on the other side of the swamp, an all-terrain trike rolling up as the captain of the group briefs the others on their coming mission.

"Alright, men! There's a valuable artifact here, and it's our job to snag it. Move out, and shoot anything that moves."

"Yessir!"

Sensing the activity happening on the planetside below, a squadron of Blue Heliad Sciences troops, led by Captain Lance Amadeus Silversun, deploy in a dropship nearby. "The Royal Azure Imperium has been our ally for a long time now, men. We need to protect and return this artifact to their fortress down south. Ready your weapons!"

Not at all far away, a force of Dragonblood Knights, led by General Cornelius Crawven and Blood Mage Xera, moves in through the surrounding swamps.

"Ah, the Swamps of Freyd. It's been ages since I was last here. The air is still pungent as ever.. have you ever visited these parts, Xera?"

"Once or twice. Generally on the journey to Nightshroud Fortress further north, for my studies."

"I believe we are here, my lady. And I also believe we have company."

"Excellent. Firetail's been in need of a good meal."

Pretzel War: TURN ONE

The Great Azurian Pretzel War, Turn One:

Skylink Commandos - CaptainSkylink

Captain Skylink and a rifle-wielding soldier dash up towards Firetail as the trike rolls around to face the scaly beast.

And they all combine fire on the fire-breathing reptile!

Massive critical successes - both on the dragon's Armor, and the Commando's damage - ends up with 45 points of armor, and 47 points of damage. The Dragon loses 1HP, out of its total 4.

The rest of the Commandos move up behind the cover of the trike.

Hillbillies - Rainbowberry

Image

The Hillbillies get their turn rolling - literally - by speeding towards the hill, ramming into one of the Blade Beetles. Not only do they get several critical successes, but their 11" momentum meets his 1" critical opposition, and he receives a total of 34 points of damage as his body flies back one inch into the tree..

Meanwhile, the rest of the Hillbillies move over, with Paw and the Gun Enthusiast opening fire on the Blue Heliad Sciences troop, killing one of the soldiers.

Dragonblood Knights - Darkflame

Firetail breathes a wall of fire across Captain Skylink and his rifle-carrying companion, killing the soldier and setting Skylink on fire with 6 Grind Damage right off the bat.

Meanwhile, Xera casts a fireball, blasting off one of the Trike's wheels to significantly slow it down.

As one of the Blade Beetles edges towards Xera, Crawven dashes in, beheading the insectoid creature.

As the rest of the Dragonblood move forward, Sir Mange turns and fires a crossbolt at the flaming Captain Skylink..

Blue Heliad Sciences Corp. - Sir Sporktimus

The MW-1 Daedalus opens fire with its Machine Guns. One of them jams and will need a turn to reload, but the other barrel deals fatal damage to the Hillbilly Dwarf and to Daddy's Little Princess, both of them crumpling to the ground.

Captain Lance Silversun moves in to try and wipe out the gun-wielding Hillbillies, but his Blastgun fails the Auto Penalty, and will likewise need a turn to reload.

The remaining lasercannon trooper opens fire on Austin the Knife Enthusiast, blasting him out of his chair at the missile station.

The chainsaw-wielding soldier goes charging at the Gun Enthusiast, but trips and skids across the ground.

Wildlife - Aggressively Neutral

The nearby Dungan charges towards Commander Crawven, who attempts to parry the incoming blow and fails.

The Dungan's wooden spear guts Crawven.

As the injured commander drops to the stone, another Blade Beetle starts towards Xera.

On the other side of the board, a Blade Beetle starts towards the Blue Heliad troop, and two Ninja Orks dash out from the ravine.

A Browngoat shoots at Maw, but misses her.

Following this, a frog's random bouncing leads him onto the browngoat's head.

Not necessarily. You've got the only Medic on the board, and more ground units than any player.. plus a bunch of lasers still pointed at that Dragon.

On another note, all players can send in orders for turn two!

I would like to move the gun enthusiast forward, and he tries to shoot the nearest guy the belongs to sir sporktimus. The rest of my guys walk towards the truck and don't attack. The truck stays put but if its possible, the people on it want to try to climb from the truck straight onto the hill.
