Chains Are On (Round 1)

Post by Craigallot » Fri Aug 10, 2018 8:39 am

A bloody first round! :)

Magio's enforcers - TheVengefulOne

Image

Magio sounds the horn, hoping to draw some more of the roaming Falx to the battlefield.

Image

The feat fails and two Bull scouts get drawn to the fighting instead! (They'll be under ninja-bait's control from next turn onward)

Image

The Falx form up and move forward, Magio tactically remaining behind his men. Lorreaine was just out range of the gunmen, but they keep an eye on her as they move up along with the rest of the formation.

Image

Lancers take a tactical position on the flank.

Bull fanatics - ninja-bait

Image

Rax kneels down and positions his shield... is he being attacked by his own icons?

Image

Not at all! :D One by one, the icons leap onto the shield and are launched into the sky, towards the Falx.

Image

Magio tries to get first blood by shooting at them, but his roll only equals the icons' armour.

Image

The halberds, driven down hard by the momentum of the charge, kill three Falx.

Image

However, the halberdiers were able to strike back simultaneously, and kill two icons. The warbeast attacks as well, but the last icon is saved by the Benny of First Blood, which added to its armour!

Image

The rest of the Bulls, bellowing a war cry, then charge forward.

Image

An insane sprint roll by the shieldbearers coupled with a lot of charging damage kills one of the warbeasts outright.

Image

The avatar charges with its horns, decapitating two death seekers and ploughing through to kill a third.

Image

The disciplined Falx brace, stand their ground, and attack simultaneously with their warbeast, however, dealing a whopping 34 damage, which deals 1 SP of damage (1 more point of damage and it would've done 2, blame the warbeast for missing! :fist: ).

Image

The phalanx sprint, rather than charge (they could've charged if they dropped their shields but I assumed you didn't want that).

Image

The crossbowmen move up normally and prepare to fire. Even their own units are out of range though.

James the Black - RedRover

Image

Lord James moves up towards the prison wagon. Sadly, he's not very fast.

"But they won't get far..." he mutters.

Aloysius Black - Duerer

Image

Aloysius starts tinkering with his gun...

Image

"Mother of...!" He rolls three sixes in a row (against an opposing roll of '1'), turning his rifle into a deadly ribault (a size 2 'machine gun' capable of deadly arc fire). Moving it around may present an issue, since the construction is size 2 and therefore causes minifigs pushing it to move at half speed (although, I'm not entirely sure if having wheels should increase that, but feel free to enlighten me if so), but this is nothing that can't be fixed later.

Lucia - Archduke

Image

"If any of these maggots try to wriggle away during the fighting, shoot them!"

"Aye, aye, boss!"

Image

"And you! I don't much like the look of those fancy pants over there! Form a shield wall, slow them down!"

The legionnaires quickly comply. They are partially hidden behind their shields so hitting them will be more difficult.

Image

The wagon rolls forward. Cutthroats move to the front, while one of them keeps an eye on the prisoners in the back. I was wrong earlier in saying it could move 10" because I forgot the minifigs pushing it are still limited by their own max movement. It's size 4 so so long as 4 figs are pushing it it can move as far as the figs do (5" standard).

Image

"Here, I'll lighten your burden for you! Hahaha!" Lucia sneers as she whips the helmet off a soldier's head. Her feat critically succeeds and her cutthroats have the sudden clarity of mind to not only take their helmets, but their armour as well! (Cutthroats gain body armour, so +2).

Image

Two take opportunistic shots at the shieldbearers' exposed flank (they were only 1" out of range so I had them fire), but the negative mods are enough to prevent any serious damage from being done.

Just need Falk's orders and then we can proceed!

No problem, I actually thought I had them myself until I noticed that I didn't.

Princess Lorreaine - Falk

Image

Lorreaine slashes her staff weapon (needs a better name) through the sand, projecting heat into the blade.

Image

Critical success! The slash heats up the sand, creating a heat mirage (indicated by the flames) that will make shooting the heroes (from that direction) a lot harder (basically it means the Falx would be firing blind).

Image

Lorreaine, much faster than James in her more 'tactical' ( :warhead: ) armour, then rushes forward.

Image

Now accepting orders for round 2! Turn order will be the same as in this one! Except, the crimson crusaders can swap their turn order with each other, but to keep things fair one of them will always move after Lucia's forces have moved.

LOL. General Augusta was right, in their absence, the integrity of Falx commanders is a bit... 'mediocre.' :D

Okay, jumping the icons off of the commander's shield? Pure brilliance! LOVE that move! :)

It's only cool when it works ;)

Also, full credit to Brag for nailing the pictures! :tiger:

Nah, when it fails, then it becomes hilarious (see Mr. Crack Pipe above).
