I think our records speak for themselves already, when it comes to feeling-up-the-bags jokes. You're a couple years late.

I screwed around today with stats and the helpful card template, and here we are.

Half Speed is more than just a 50% Move penalty. It also means he can't do any other Half Speed movement types like swimming, climbing ropes, or escaping from quicksand.

Did I not put that in the rules somewhere? That's a hell of an oversight. Those limitations are the whole point of Half Speed.

No, they're all in there (edit: in the 2010 rules, I can't be bothered to read the 2005 version)- I figured they were covered by stating he had Armor. I only put the note in about the Speed because I bumped that up to 10" (so they'd go 5" in armor) and I wanted to be clear about that.

Edit: I added a line of text to clarify things and edited the new card into the original post.

The new Galaxy Squad guys would make a great imperial guard to go along with these gentlemen.

To me, they look like Scouts and Pilots. :)

Here's hoping one pops up in a small enough set for me to afford to buy in bulk!

...far less bulk than 65.

Some lines are so open there's no sport in responding.

As for your next step, do you have some of the Alien Conquest guys? I picked up like 12 ADU soldiers from the $5 set that also came with an alien so I have a decent sized army of them. They look really good next to the Galaxy Patrol guys. And I agree the new guys could be like mechanics or pilots. (I was using Star Wars pilots for all the vehicles in my army but I like these new guys better for that purpose.)

Some lines are written on purpose, and pointing them out is redundant. I assumed that's why most of you left it alone...

Unfortunately, the only Alien Conquest set I've got is the big Saucer with sounds and the leader-guy. It was on sale for $35 and I figured he'd look good next to his queen (from the collectible Minifig series). I was right!

Are they out of stores now? I bought a bunch of that little one, the saucer, and the big truck the ADU had. I wanted a few of the War of the World walkers as well...

I haven't seen any for a long time (apart from that saucer, which when I found it was something of an anomaly).

Part of the issue here is that I'm coming out of a second (third?) Dark Age.

I don't think I've said it; but -

6) I jelly all those galaxy patrol!
7) The bolter design is simple, elegant, and effective. Very nice.

The ADU soldiers do indeed make good light infantry to complement the Space Marines.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned that I had a Land Speeder equivalent that looked like a Trouble Bubble, and I finally got around to taking some pics.

I give you the Piranha, a light anti-grav vehicle.

Image

This is the basic configuration, which carries dual size 2 Machine Guns. However there are a wide number of variants- at some time or another an enterprising combat engineer has strapped more or less every weapon in use by the Galaxy Patrol to one of these somewhere. In addition to the chin gun mounts, there are hardpoints just behind the cockpit that are typically used to mount missile launchers, bombs racks, or just more guns.

More guns are always good.

Also, those secondary hardpoints came in real handy when I tried to figure out how to mount this guy to a flying stand, as you can see.

A slightly blurry side view.

Image

A view of the rear stabilizers.

I haven't gotten around to statting it out yet, but it's a size two hoverer, basically.

Oh, one last shot. Why not.

I quite like this so far, but the Piranha could use some more SNOT to fill in the gap between the canopy and fuselage. And maybe moar dakka as well.
