WWII-Modern Units

Post by Coriolanus » Sat Feb 15, 2014 6:54 pm

These are most of my WWII-modern era units, although some of them could be used in a space era battle as well. (I don't have any full, fleshed out factions, at least not yet, just individual units I can swap around to make armies for different battles.)

Right now I only have two vehicles in this era, the first is the Wirbelwind.

Modeled after the German Wirbelwind (Wirlwind) mobile anti-aircraft gun from WWII. (I don't have any tank tracks so I just have sprockets and roadwheels and call it close enough.)

A slightly fuzzy view from the front.

Top view showing the distinctive turret shape that was such a pain to imitate.

Rear view.

Another front view. The quad-mounted auto-guns are devastating against infantry squads.

Close-up of the front hull. I kind of like how the front vision block turned out.

Close-up of the turret. The angles took a really long time to get right.

Armored Car. I modeled this loosely off the M8

It is armed with a main gun, an auto-gun on the ring mount, and a bow-mounted flamethrower.

Top view. The ring mount is a flexible tube from an old Technic set.

This is an updated machine gun from the previous pictures. I got the ammo drum idea from someone on this forum, I'm not sure who.

Impressive. I really like the Tommies, I've been planning on building a squad or two of similar figs for my army.

At first I thought the turret looked odd, but then I looked up the actual thing.

Image

You did really good with the modeling.

Also the infantry is all very nice. Must have been very expensive.

Everything about these units is awesome. Love the use of President Business's head on that merc, by the way.
