I'm going to be honest here, I can't even remember what I named my armies, But I still make updates to them once in a while since it's the closest thing to a hobby I have outside of stuff on the computer.
Anyway a couple of weeks ago I had a pick a brick order come in, this time it was mostly just police and firefighters since I have a younger sibling who visits me once in a while and who likes to play town, anyway, in that order I also got a lot of headgear so I could make my largest army less of a Starwars clone army, I can't remember what I called it exactly, I think it was Elkoss Dominon or Elkoss Empire or something, literally some name I pulled out of a hat, anyway that isn't important. I wanted to show the changes I've made to them, I'll put a link to an older thread for comparison, While at the time of this posting I'm only going to show the Updates/Upgrades for my largest faction, the the Loyalist Government forces, I think I have some new stuff for the others as well that I'll get to adding sometime.
This was the old thread, Most of the "factions" themes remain the same, But I've made some big improvements to some of them viewtopic.php?f=17&t=11236
So here we go, The Dominion faction are like I said, the Loyalist/Government *all of my armies were supposed to be from the same planet because I don't have starships of my own*. I'll only be showing new stuff/changed stuff. anything else you can refer to the old thread. Faction Colors are White and Orange, Trim/detailing is usually done in black, but also light grey and sometimes dark greyInfantry
- Note that I will only show 2 or 3 minifigs of each type, I will put in brackets the actual number of figs of each type that I have. I'm bad with group pictures, my own comments will be in italics
Assault Infantry -The snowtrooper helmets have been completley removed and they all use white helmets with clear visors now
, second image shows Mk2 armor that some soldiers have been afforded
Riflemen - removed scouttrooper helmets, gave them same helmets as Assault troops, they're supposed to be like marksmen
Combat Medics - i]Made it more uniformed, took the white helmets with decals and gave them to other figs, medics now all wear black helmets so they can be identified by their own troopers[/i]
Ordinance Specialists -* completley did away with the green clone helmets, they use launchers, mortars, explosives, etc
Advanced Assault Infantry - elected to keep the stormtrooper helmets because A I like them, didn't want to use them, and didn't have any replacement alternatives
NCOs - Taken off all of the ARF helmets and other assorted SW stuff, have given them all white crash helmets, dark visors, and a few of them have the fancy decal/painted designs on them
Marines - Found a way to use some of the extra helmets I had, and do away with those god awful bomb squad clone helmets, I -really- hated those, and these guys felt like the most out of place in my military, I'm happy with them now
Shock Troopers - I wanted to keep the regular clone helmets, I like them, and while they look wonky, I don't have anything to replace the clone paratrooper helmets, so I kept them all. Twice now I've ordered large numbers of helmets and I don't want to buy anymore, I'm fine with having a few dozen SW helmets in this group
Hazmat Infantry - I really didn't have anything I wanted to use these ATAT pilots for, and my "pilots" wear orange jumpsuits so I needed another use for them, made use of the obvious rebreather equipment on them,
Heavy Gunners - NHL/Hockey chestplates, those ugly bomb squad helmets, I wanted to make heavy gunners out of these guys but they still need work, I've been trying to use a cleaner to get the logos off the chest, but it takes a long time
Junior Officers - These are Old Republic troopers, they used to be used as bodyguards but their helmets were worse than the bomb squad guys, They already had orange on them which is the factions secondary color, so I decided to throw them in as an inbetween of the NCOs and the regular officers.
Commissioned Officers - I actually forget what these guys were called, some kind of clone commandos, I originally was going to make them special forces or something but the parts were just too expensive, elected to make them Officers as I had very few if any at the time.
Commanders - Various colored clone troopers, I used to have 3, but scrapped one since it just didnt look right, decided to make them like Colonels and low ranking generals on account of only having a couple of them, I have hats for them too, just didnt use them in this picture
Support and Auxillary Staff 1 Left to Right, Mechanic, Technician, DoctorJust some random auxillary units I made with extra parts
Support staff 2 L2R Scientist, Bomb Disposal, Engineer
Pilots Basically anything that was mostly orange and even remotley resembled a jumpsuit was made into a pilot"New" Vehicles
Light Utility Vehicles - Small military grade pickup trucks capable of transporting a small team *or more when using a trailer* as well as other types of cargo. Also seen in the picture is the Loyalists new Remote operated light missile "Mortar" which is used with a variety of laser designators, and also uses a number of different warheads These are stock sets with tiny modifications, I liked the look of them, and they already fit faction colors, I wanted a couple more Transports for the loyalists because until now I didnt actually have two matching transports for these guys, the "mortars" were just made from scrap from the trucks, I had a lot of these rocket parts around, and had been wanting to make some mortars, comprimised on a "rocket mortar"
EK-200 Main Battle Tank - The successor to the EK-100 "Battlemaster" tank, the EK-200 Looks similar to it's predecessor, but has been improved in every category, A uniformed paint job, thicker armor, better suspension and tracks*a 4th axel, lol*, new engines, new communication systems for both the crew and nearby infantry, the inclusion of a toolkit for field repairs, larger caliber main gun, a new roof mounted machine gun, advanced optics, and a second generation laser designator for the Loyalist's new range of indirect fire systems. They still can't fit minifigs, but this has been something I've been wanting to do for a long time, the old grey bodies have been around for more than 10 years, I was still a kid when I made the first one, I was proud of it, but I wanted to remake the tank in white and black to fit the faction it was supposed to be for, I'm very happy with it, especially the second tank which is next, my only regret is that I can't make more, I only had 4 tracks *there is a new arctic set coming out that brings back the small rubber treads, I may buy more* but these tanks have a lot of intricate tiny details that I may not be able to duplicate completley in a new tank
EK-200M2 - While the EK-200 was a massive success, the Loyalist military decided that the new armor could use more protection, the M2 upgrade remains essentially unchanged from it's standard counterpart, except with heavy side skirts, an armored front slab doubling as a ram, and plating on the sides and rear of the turret, the thick sloped armor on the rest of the tank already provide adequate protection against anti vehicular and explosive munitions. overall increasing protection by roughly 25-30%, the extra weight however gives the M2 a slower speed, and requires more fuel, extra fuel cans are attached to the rear, but are not connected to the engine thus preventing a fuel line explosion if hit. Had a lot of extra interesting peices leftover after I finished building the second tank, I experimented with the idea of an up-armoured version, and I really like it, it's not as grand as my super heavy tank in the old thread, but I think it accuratley portrays a battletank, I wish I had the parts to make my other tank like this, who knows, someday I might scrounge up the resources to build some more. *New*
EK-C2 IFV - The C2 is the Elkossian Military's first true Infantry fighting vehicle, Before it's unveiling government forces only utilized various forms of APCs which could do little more than deliver troops and utilize light weaponry, while still not a tank, the C2 is a heavy personnel carrier which can remain in the combat zone and support it's troops. It's weapon system is modular and supports a number of configurations, and can also be taken off for non combative roles such as a mobile command post. the IFV configuration uses a dual autocannon, and twin light machine guns which can rotate at many angles, as well as advanced optics and a second generation laser designator system which has become standard on all government armor. The C2 IFV's armor is thickest at the front allowing it to sustain a lot of damage head on before the vehicle or occupants are threatened, the vehicle's side armor was already good, extra plating was added all around the passenger compartment, completley encasing and protecting it. the vehicle's only weak spots are the tracks themselves, which are left open as not to interfere with the vehicles mobility, and the rear door, which is covered by a slab of armor which can be lowered to function like a hatch. Just made this today *May7*I had extra tracks but they weren't the same as on my other vehicles, it was originally a black or red tank, but the blacks have a fleet of drone tanks now, and the reds just got a new one which I've already shown, Instead of making more tanks I experimented with the idea of making a heavy APC, this is what came out of it, currentley it can't fit minifigs as it's about 1 brick too low, it's original design could fit minifigs but it just didnt look right. when I get some time I have a few ideas how I might be able to keep it's squat appearance and actually give it capactiy. if I were to get it open it can probably fit 8 figs plus a driver, it's actually pretty spacious inside, but I want to keep it's low squat look. Other vehicles
- Not part of the Government forces, The "red" army used to be a band of raiders but I've changed them into a smaller country which is supposed to be a socialist state that broke away from the sepratist "black" country, you can find information on these on my old threads if you wish, anyway I had the hulls of the old tanks leftover so I made one into a red tank, the other into a "dead" tank to be used as decoration/homeless man's house.
EK-100B Tank Old first generation body repurposed for a different faction as if it was sold as obsolete surplus or captured, tried to make it look like it had been up-armored to compensate for it's age, Looks okay on the outside but it's actually pretty ramshackle and ugly underneath the armor skirt, it's just a trio of wheel axels underneath, I only have two track sets right now of that size, A while ago I decided that the red faction's colors would be red, black and light grey, and the tanks were originally built all Lgrey, so it was a win win
That's all for now, remember that that this thread is just to show the updates and signifigant changes to my minifigs and vehicles, most of my stuff can still be found on old threads, but please don't necro them. I made a bad habit of necro'ing my own threads, and making a mess of them.
Old thread - viewtopic.php?f=17&t=11236&start=15
Secondary thread, the black army, the chief Rebel faction *black* had it's infantry updated and expanded soon after, but It was never shown in that thread viewtopic.php?f=17&t=11367&p=260161#p260161
that's all for now, thanks for your interest
