The Knights of Aldasveign (Now with more KAY-OSS and dakka!)

Postby Ben-Jammin » Sun Nov 30, 2014 1:52 pm

Within Calvarian space, near the western border with the Inter-Systems Commonwealth, there resides an anomaly. A small cluster of star systems that hold themselves independent of the Empire, despite resting well within its territory. This cluster - known as the Sovereign Sector - is home to an ancient and revered realm, known as Aldasveign. This planet was one of the very first to be discovered following human expansion from their homeworld of Terra Nova, though it was long forgotten through the passage of time and the events of the Cataclysm and the resulting Second Dark Age.

However, Aldasveign is unlike many other worlds. Though its terrain and geography is not unlike Terra Nova itself, the planet serves with distinction as being the home of the Knights of Aldasveign, the saviors of humanity. By the will of Yelandar and their devotion to upholding his holy tenets, the beings who compose the Order are unlike any seen across the stars. They are somewhat elusive, emerging only to negotiate between powers or to fight off an alien menace, and are never seen warring against humankind unless there is either a significant heretic presence or their own existence is threatened. Despite all this, the Knights have become widely revered across both Calvarian space and beyond.

Few know the truths behind the Knights of Aldasveign. What is clear is that they are not human, but not fully Valkyrie either. They are stronger, faster, and far more intelligent than any man, and the individuals within the Order are easily identified by their glowing eyes. The men and women of the Order hail from all peoples and nations across the stars, and all of them are dedicated to ensuring the survival of both humanity and the Faith. Some believe them to be Immortals, though this is mere rumor. Others believe them to be something else entirely. Regardless, the Knights have served all of humankind for over four thousand years, and they certainly show no signs of going away any time soon. When darkness rises, the Knights of Aldasveign shall be the first to respond.

(EDIT: Some artwork of the Knights: http://brikwars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13186)

The Knights of Aldasveign - saviors of a million worlds, slayers of mankind's foes. They exist solely to guide humanity and repel the darkness that seeks to consume them from all corners of the universe. Be it alien or man, the Knights fight against all who would corrupt and destroy that which they hold dear.

Image

Shown here is the leader of the Knights, Supremarch Benjamin the Intolerant. His surname has long been lost to history, and is known only to himself. The title of Supremarch literally means "Supreme Archon", and Benjamin is the first and only individual to hold such a title among the ranks of the Knights. He is a legendary warrior and master tactician, and his sword - Demon's Bane - is one of only a handful of weapons known as the Soul Shards, and has slain innumerable foes throughout its long life. Though his past is shrouded in mystery, the records of Benjamin's deeds could fill volumes; he even served as the Calvarian Emperor for several millennia. Over four thousand years old, Benjamin is believed to be descended from Benjamin the First - the founder of the Empire in ages past.

Image

This is Archon Katrina Candor, Benjamin's second in command and the second of the Archons, the leaders of the Knights. She is also his longest-serving student, and his loving wife. Benjamin and Katrina have been married for almost the entirety of their lives, and their relationship has grown to become almost symbiotic. She follows Benjamin everywhere when not on mission.

Katrina's armor is forged of the same obsidian composition as Benjamin's, but with a more lightweight design. It possesses much the same durability, and even gunshots will have difficulty in harming Katrina. She is also the fastest of the Knights and possesses masterful skill with her blade, Durandal. It is rumored that only a handful of swords can defeat her legendary weapon, and Katrina's reputation as one of the greatest of the Knight leaders is well-earned. She is much more charismatic than her husband, and so she often serves as his voice in many matters. Katrina is also known for her well-known beauty and compassion; she is often referred to as "Lady Candor" in casual conversation.

Image

Archon Roland is another key figure of the Order, and it is he who is most often called to lead the Knights in the absence of either Benjamin or Katrina. He is a very gifted warrior, but also shares Katrina's more compassionate side. Roland has served the Knights for many millennia, and also hails from Aldasveign itself, just like Benjamin and Katrina. He wears a highly modified version of the standard Knight armor that uses an archaic but effective helmet pattern, while his mighty hammer has proven to be the bane of any who might oppose him.

Image

Archon Arnbjorn is among the most feared of the Knights, and for good reason. Some believe that this powerful yet quiet warrior has slain more foes than even Benjamin, though no one knows for sure. Like his peers, Arnbjorn was born on Aldasveign, supposedly in the same regions as Benjamin himself. Arnbjorn has been a follower of Benjamin ever since the rediscovery of Aldasveign by the Empire, and has always worked to ensure the safety of mankind and of the Order. His blade, Hrunting, is a mysterious yet powerful weapon that is believed to hail from the northernmost regions of Aldasveign, much like the warrior himself. Many say that Arnbjorn and Hrunting are a fitting pair, as the both of them thirst eagerly for battle at all times.

Image

Arnbjorn unmasked, showing off his awesome beard.

Image

Archon Reylinn and Adrian are also proud leaders of the Order. Apart from Benjamin and Katrina, they are the only Archons to be married. Reylinn is rarely seen in battle, as her extensive knowledge of history, magic, the Faith, and the galaxy as a whole mean that her skills are better served in the Knight's Great Library, a place where millions of texts from all time periods of history are kept. Reylinn and the Knights of her Legion are tasked with the preservation of societies and histories, and so they work tirelessly to recover and catalogue all manner of volumes.

Archon Adrian is a very charismatic individual who is known both for his dueling skill and wisecracks. Despite this, he has served the Order with distinction for nearly as long as Roland has, and so he is respected highly. Adrian is often called upon for negotiations and settlements between powers, as the Order serves both in a fighting and administrative role.

Image

Now we will examine the more common Knights. Shown here are a pair of Knight Demolishers, who can be identified by their massive power packs which increase the capabilities of their armor to accept larger weaponry. Credit goes to lorbaat for the inspiration of the pack. The Demolisher on the right is armed with a Storm Repeater (or heavy bolter when GW isn't watching), a massive automatic weapon that can cut down anything in its path, from fleets of light vehicles to hordes of Vistoren. It's .60 caliber rounds are standard issue for most Knight weapons, and are equipped with an LET (Light Explosive Tip) projectile that can deliver immense damage to anything it hits.

The Knight on the left is armed with a Rotary Detonator, essentially the Knight equivalent of the Milkor MGL. Its massive drum magazine holds five 60mm grenades, projectiles that are larger than some anti-tank rockets. The "Rotordet", as some refer to it, is used mainly against hordes of tightly-packed adversaries who can be easily felled by only a few shots of this devastating weapon.

Image

Behind his helmet, this Knight is smiling with glee as he carries the largest rifle in the Knight's arsenal - the Ebon Rifle. This colossal weapon fires 1" Obsidian Projectiles that can penetrate anything short of tank armor. It is equipped with a bipod and suppressor, as well as a very large scope that features a rangefinder and video camera. It is a highly sophisticated weapon, and any common man could not hope to fire this weapon without support for fear that it would dislocate their shoulder. Of course, such issues are little concern for one such as the Knights...

Image

This Knight is an officer, as can be seen by the white plumage on his helmet. Some officers might also use icons or markings on their armor to identify their rank. All officers are armed with the Nova Sword. It is important to note that the Knight's Nova Sword is different from the other weapon of the same name found throughout the brikverse. Knight Nova Swords consist of a physical Durantium blade that houses a Novite core within the hilt, whereas normal Nova Swords are of different manufacture. Novite itself acts as a powerful energy source that - when crystallized - can be used for a variety of purposes. The Knights use Novite as a means of powering some of their weapons and vehicles, and also as a means of further increasing the power of their weapons. It can also be used as a power source for common Nova Swords and Beam Swords. "Empowered Beam Swords" are the name the Knights use to refer to the common Nova swords.

This officer is also armed with a dual Stormer, a weapon that essentially combines two Storm Rifles into one. It has two barrels and a larger magazine for faster firing, and essentially functions as a massive submachine gun.

Image

This Knight is a Peregrine, Knights who are equipped for aerial or zero-G combat. The Knights themselves already possess superhuman strength which allows them to jump incredible heights, but the addition of the Thruster Pack only further increases this leap so that they can cross over even buildings with ease. This particular Knight is armed with a Nova Axe, a powerful armor-piercing weapon.

Image

A shot of the Thruster Pack. It is not a true jet pack; rather the Thruster pack provides only a quick burst of energy that can propel the Knight further than their jump would normally allow. It has a slightly smaller fuel tank than a jet pack in order to fit onto the Knight's armor better.

Image

Shown here are more specialty weapons wielded by the Knights. On the left is a Storm's Herald, a marksman variant of the common Storm Rifle. It is equipped with a scope and suppressor for longer-ranged firing, while its subsonic .60 caliber rounds allow the operator to remain hidden easier. Unlike other Storm weapons, it fires in semi-automatic and has a 10-round magazine.

The middle Knight is armed with a plasma rifle, an experimental weapon. The plasma rifle combines a Novite core with hydrogen fuel cells and magnetic accelerators to fire deadly bursts of superheated plasma energy. The rifle can melt though most armor given enough time, and can prove deadly to anyone housed inside such protection, as the intense heat of the blast will melt and disintegrate armor plating. The Plasma Rifle is restrained only by its massive heat build-up; a drastic increase in heat from repetitive firing can cause the weapon to melt down and be destroyed.

The final Knight is armed with a  Flechette Cannon. It is essentially a 12gauge shotgun on steroids, as each shell fires over one hundred metal spikes that can turn unarmored targets into mulch with a single blast. It is limited by its short range and four-shot magazine, but in close quarters, the Flechette Cannon can literally rip smaller foes apart.

Image

This character is a Knight Exorcist. Rarely seen in the field, Exorcists work primarily to destroy demonic or heretical entities on the field, while at the same time providing blessings for their allies. Their equipment can consist of anything, though all Exorcists carry some kind of holy or blessed icon as a means of repelling their primary adversaries. They form a small yet essential part of the Knight's fighting force, and each Exorcist can still be a powerful foe against even non-demon threats.

Image

Shown here are the standard Knights of Aldasveign. Each one possesses the strength to face one hundred men and emerge unscathed. They are clad in the famous Knight Armor, and armed with the revered Storm Rifle, a fully automatic .60 caliber firearm that can lay waste to all but the largest of foes. For all of the hundreds of quintillions of denizens in the brikverse, there are only a few million Knights, as the beings who compose their order are few and far between. Despite their smaller numbers, a single Legion of Knight warriors can rout an army many times their size, and they are trained from the get-go in all forms of combat from all cultures and societies throughout history. Each Knight is a true warrior, more capable than any mere man. They are truly warriors without peer.

Image

Dreadnuts are also utilized by the Knights of Aldasveign. When a Knight warrior suffers severe damage the likes of which even they cannot recover from, their still-living body is forever entombed within this mighty vessel. Each Dreadnut is armed with massive weaponry and fueled by the being of the Knight that dwells within, making them truly powerful fighting machines that can take on even battle tanks. This particular Dreadnut is armed with a Rotary Autocannon and a Power Fist.

Image

Dreadnut armaments can adapt to fit most missions however. The Dreadnut is now armed with a flamethrower and dual autocannon.

Image

The Knights also make use of vehicles in their operations. The Repulsor Speeder is one such craft, utilizing advanced repulsor technology to rapidly glide even the most harrowing terrain. Though unarmed, the extreme speed and agility of the speeder allows it to quickly transport Knights to their destination, or evade pursuing enemies with ease. Credit goes to Saber-Scorpion for the design.

Image

Of course, the speeder can't travel between planets and star systems. This is where the SCF-2X Pilgrim comes in, an advanced starfighter that features modular weapon hardpoints and its own warp drive. The Knights use the Pilgrim both as a fighter craft and as a transport, as well as an escort craft for the small yet powerful Knight Starfleet. So advanced is the Pilgrim that many larger powers across the galaxy have requested purchasing the design for their own purposes, usually for use as a heavy fighter or bomber craft. Despite this, the largest stores of Pilgrims are still kept by the Knights, who use the versatile craft in a variety of roles.

Image

The Pilgrim's cockpit is large enough to seat a fully-armored Knight, as this warrior happily demonstrates. A Calvarian HUD design allows the Knight to link into the ship for better control and piloting.

Well, that's it for the Knights of Aldasveign. I hope you enjoyed!

Thanks guys; I have to say that Chima gun piece is by far one of the best elements lego has produced. If you guys want breakdowns of anything, I can provide them.

Also, I would appreciate it if this could make it on the wiki. I tried to add it myself, but I am unable to make new pages.

A battle that I would like to see, is a battle between a few Phaleks and a few of these guys(preferably led by Katrina  :warhead: )
I think it would be a good match.

Can the gun aim upwards? Because on mine, it keeps flopping down and it's a bit annoying.

I could attempt it; perhaps an arena-type battle is in order. The Knights do need to train after all.

While the jet is a little chunky and kinda breaks the Space Knight feel, but other than that, this faction is badass as hell.

I had hoped to make the jet a bit sleeker, but for now I am actually happy with the design. It is based on the Jumpships from Destiny.

And thank you.

EDIT: If anyone wants to see, I have also posted some artwork I did of some of the Knights: http://brikwars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13186&p=296429#p296429

Bravo, these look amazing. I've always loved these fusions of medieval and sci-fi, and this group looks very well put together (though IMO, they could use a few more medieval elements to balance out the tech).
