The Republik of Magyar

Postby Duerer » Thu Mar 12, 2015 2:00 pm

The Republik of Magyar is a moderatly sized nation, with about 40 star systems. The Magyars have great relationships with the Confederation of Polonia and do a lot of trading with the Poles, but stay away from other political maymay, otherwise. Like Polonia, Magyar has been occupied by the USSSR but could break free from occupation, with minimal outside intervention.

Honvédek (Soldiers)
Honvédek are the backbone of the Maygar army, wearing flak vests and old but reliable assault rifles, from the Second Brik War. They are also not to be underrestimated in close combat either, where they struck down any enemy, just with their gun stocks.

Image
Huszárok (Hussars)
Unlike Polish Husary, the Magyar Huszárok are meant to be light cavalry forces instead of heavy cav. While not as thought armoured or armed to the teeth like their Polish counterparts, they can ride with greater ease through the battlefield, mowing down enemy infantry with their sabres. They also make excellent reconnaissance troops, due to their high speed and their ability to cross most difficult terrain on their horses.

Ezredes (Colonel) Attila Erös
Attila Erös is one of the most competent officers in the Magyar army, prefering to fight right next to his soldiers, instead of remaining in the background and watch them being killed by gunfire. He wields a BT Mace, forged directly from a huge crystal, which often prooved itself to be an incredibly powerful weapon in close combat.

Great stuff, the cavalry's probably my favorite so far. I also like the use of the Chi thing as a mace. Looking forward to seeing those vehicles, man.  :)

First one's already done:

Csaba - Heavy Fighter
The Csaba is the answer to most aircraft of other big star empires, having enough firepower to take out multiple opponents at the same time. It is armed with two laser cannons on it's sides, one big autocannon on it's nose and four OT missiles. However, being a starfighter, the Csaba cannot unfold it's whole firepower, while flying...

... but in order to work around that issue, the fighter can land and use two legs in order to move on the ground. Thus it is able to fire more of it's weapons at the cost of it's speed.

Okay this is pretty cute, digging the transforming craft.

I'd recommend getting some s12 hun warriors - alternatively one of these if you're lucky:

Dunno, if the S12 Huns would fit in properly, but now I have a good excuse to stick some horns on the warrior's helmets. Where did you find that Deadly Space Hungarian, btw?

I got it from a family friend - used to be a keychain figure, really glad how well-preserved it is for its age. Wish I knew the proper origins! What's most likely is that someone got their hands on a batch of blank white minifigs and custom printed them - they were used as promotional freebies for toystores when lego was just budding in the country as a new brand in the 80s. Supposedly fellow Hungarian fans already contacted Billund about the matter but to my knowledge there's yet to be any official response from TLG about it. No idea how many are out there, only found this pic of someone else's but it's in a pretty rough shape:

Zrinyi - Assault Gun
While it might not seem as spectacular as the Csaba, the Zrinyi is a champ in it's own way, nevertheless. One shot of it's main gun can turn any bunker or piece of armoured fortification into a pile of rubble. On top of that, the rather small frame of this tank makes it much harder to hit it wiht most bigger anti tank weaponry.
