basically, LIDAR uses lasers to estimate the distance to target, and is in use with most modern main battle tanks.

The Repubic of Eldorria

Image
Spoiler
Show
Eldorria supposedly lacks a state religion. Regardless, visitors would be wise to know some Trangulist scripture .
Image

Minifigs

Image

The Eldorrian Hero, El Capitan, and a Tracker, the scout/snipers of Eldorria.
Spoiler
Show
El Capitan:

Once a pirate, "El Capitan" now seeks his fortune on the side of the law. Barely.

Tracker:

Skills gained from a lifetime in the field are just as effective in the Favela.
Image

Eldorrian Marines
Spoiler
Show
While not technically privateers, it is rare that a Marine expedition is sent out without profit in mind.

Vehicle

Coyote Offroader

Image
Spoiler
Show
While Coyotes lack any real means to carry the spoils of war, they are certainly equipped to kill those guarding them.
Image

This is heavily based off of the buggy from the "Avengers v. Hydra" set.

Image

Fun Fact: At one point, this was a swamp boat.

Image

Close up on the grenade launcher and the engine.

Image

Booster rockets? Exhaust pipes? They're actually both.

Image

I just might have gone overboard on the brightness.

That Coyote is so cool. The slanted rollcage, the grenade launcher, and the driver's "pimp hand" machine gun are all great.

Damn, I actually intended to do such a similar vehicle with the same name, for Mexico. Looks really cool, tho.

"Pelota" actually means "ball", as in a sports ball. A "crawler" would probably be a tracked vehicle like a construction or farm tractor.

Bavaria: The Cthulic Inquisition

Image
Spoiler
Show
In the earliest days of Bavaria, all feared the Cthulic Inquisition for their relentless prying and zeal for torture. While much of this fear has dissipated, the inquisitors remain as fanatic as ever.
Image

Minifigs

Image

Ordensmeister Kraft, the head of the Inquisition, his son, the Teutonic Knight Ludwig Kraft, and Zauberermeister von Blatt, the Inquisition's foremost magician.
Spoiler
Show
Ordensmeister Kraft:

Beneath the fine clothing and walking stick isa man as black-hearted as the god he serves.

Ludwig Kraft:

Beneath the heavy armor and ridiculous hair is a man as dumb as the rocks he walks upon.

Zauberermeister von Blatt:

A man of Magic, or a man of faith? When Brikthulu is involved, the are often one and the same.
Image

Three Jaegers and a Lancer.
Spoiler
Show
Jaeger:

"The bullets whizzed by my head twice before I noticed the Jaeger in the trees."

Lancers:

While technically Teutonic Knights, Lancers are far, far crazier.
Image

Bavarian Knights, the slow, but relentless melee experts of the Inquisition.
Spoiler
Show
They walk upon the bones they break
Image

Soldats, the most basic members of the Bavarian Inquisition.
Spoiler
Show
"They may have been frightening once, but now? Now I think they're just lucky."

-Paliadin Anatol, Order of Dobrzyn.
Image

Unknown units. Possibly Thralls for von Blatt, maybe Adepts in the realm of magic. Perhaps both.
Spoiler
Show
Belief is a powerful weapon. Then again, so is a knife.
Vehicle

Blitzenpferd Speeder

Image
Spoiler
Show
The two massive engines give the Blitzenpferd unparalleled mobility, provided it's moving in a straight line.
Image

Not gonna lie, the front was really tough to figure out.

Image

It can hold the lancer's spear and shield, so that it's forward guns can be utilized.

Image

Those guns usually aren't used though...

Image

..given the Lancers' preferred way to attack.

Great-looking faction you have there.
Even though there is a definite SW parts presence, it doesn't look like just another SW redeux.
That speeder kicks ass, too! How many are there?
I'll be keeping an eye on this bunch... :omnom:

Immortal Empire: The Omega Legion

Image
Spoiler
Show
When the fleet sent to detain the Warhead shard called Omega defected to him, Immortal High Command chose to bring him into the fold. Now, he and his men are the spearhead of the Immortal invasion force.
My thoughts behind the basic troop design is that these are the standard soldiers of the imperial armies, while the black-suited or hodgepodge guys that most people use for immortal soldiers are specialists or raider groups.

Image

Minifigs

Image

The Omega Shard himself, flanked by his admiral, the mortal Bram and his supervisor, Commandant Steele.
Spoiler
Show
The Omega Shard:

To Immortal High Command, the Omega Shard is uncouth, an ingrate, and arrogant to the point of recklessness. The the men who serve under him, he is a leader worth following.

Bram, Imperial Strategos:

The Omega Shard's top Lieutenant dictates overall strategy for the Omega Legion.

Commandant Steele:

The one-eyed Immortal Steele reports directly to Immortal High Command, and is likely all that keeps the Omega Shard in check.
Image

Other Imperial Heroes. From Left to right, Crixton Var, The Huntress, and an Assassin, who I think will be called Petra. It needs time.
Spoiler
Show
Crixton Var, Imperial Colossus:

They told the Colossus that strapping a mortar to his back was insane, but. . . well. . . uh. . .

The Huntress:

No target is too large when a chance at immortality is on the line.

Petra the Assassin:

"Something's in the base. Secure the commander. Now!"

"Uh, sir?"

"What?"

"We're too late."
Image

Specialized soldiers: A Venator, a Centurion, and a Pyroclast. As the Centurions old machine gun kept critfailing, I have outfitted him with a projection rifle(a 2-shot grenade launcher)
Spoiler
Show
Venator:

Experts in sabotage and subterfuge, Venators bring down the biggest enemy targets.

Centurion:

An officer of sorts, a Centurion leads by example.

Pyroclast:

The destruction of enemy fortifications is key to an Imperial victory.
Image

The Phalanxes you know and love.
Spoiler
Show
"They're not breaking! Why aren't they breaking?"
Image

Volanti are heavy assault infantry with advanced thruster packs.
Spoiler
Show
Analysis indicates that the Volanti armor system was originally developed for exoatmospheric use. However, it has seen action everywhere form hazardous environments to high-rises.
Image

Legionnaires, the most common soldier of the Immortal Empire.
Spoiler
Show
"Their only tactic seems to be a slow advance. The problem is, they're really good at it."
Vehicles

Image

Prowler Hoverbike

Image
Spoiler
Show
While the Prowler is less nimble than it appears, the twin flechette cannons mean few stick around to find out.
Image

This was honestly a five-minute build done after the gunship.

Image

I'm satisfied with it.

Harvester Killdozer

Image
Spoiler
Show
An Imperial defeat was quickly turned into an Assyrian rout with the help of some repurposed farming equipment.
Image

Image

Image

Honestly all that's changed is that the operant now has a small screen hanging from the roof.

Image

Stalker Spidertank

Image
Spoiler
Show
The gold standard in infantry support, the Stalker can follow Legionnaires wherever the path is large enough, and widen it when it isn't.
Image

No changes since last time, other than that I moved a round slide tile under the legs.

Image

The often-in-need-of-a-reload flechette cannon.

Image

The often-critfailing mortar.

Image

Mortar tube detail.

Image

The operant.

Image

Interior:

Reaper Gunship

Image
Spoiler
Show
The awkward shape belies the grace with which the Reaper moves.
Image

The "Spider eyes" motif is present on this vehicle as well.

Image

As is the usual flechette cannon.

Image

Two guided missile tubes give the Reaper more killpower.

Image

This thing took around four hours to build.

Image

Originally it was to be a far larger dropship. Only the engine pods remain of that first iteration.

Image

Fits two operants.

Image

Not the best seating arrangement though.

I love the stuff, but it's gonna take some mindset adjusting to picture these as immortal forces. But I guess if Warhead can do it, so can I.
Mnds are like parachutes. Just because you've lost yours doesn't mean you can borrow mine.

White and Orange normally says AN PAX forces to me, but if the Immortals are even loosely based on the Imperium of Man then it makes sense that they'd have a couple dozen military divisions in different color schemes (and each one probably bigger than most Nehellenium star empires).

It kind of makes me wonder if there are more Immortal color divisions though. Maybe the all-spiky-black one we're familiar with is just one among many.
