NOVIUM
Planet’s Origins:
In BY 2011, when Warhead left Midevo, a strong power rippled through space exposing a once hidden planet, Novium, tucked away in the corner of the galaxy. Novium is rich of natural resources, and much like Midevo, it is home to various fantasy races.
History:
In BY 2012, Before the current age stood a great human empire, Therenth, on the main continent of Novium. Therenth encompassed the vast southern plains and coasts becoming the economic, political, and cultural center of the continent. Its lands bordered the mountain fortresses of the dwarves in the east who provided the empire with metals and ores. Therenth’s coasts shared waters with the island homes of the high elves to the south, who exchanged the riches of the seas and arcane arts with the empire. In the east, plains bled into the forest homes of the wood elves who provided the empire with resources of their woodland habitats. Man, dwarf, and elf worked together to run the vast empire, basking in the riches and leisure it provided. However, not all was well.
Though the empire flourished in life, there were those who only sought death and destruction. Urk hordes of the marshlands and plains just north of the empire constantly raided small villages. Occasionally they engaged in skirmishes with empire, even trying to siege large cities. Although the threat of the Urks was serious, it was mostly manageable. Rumors of legions of undead in the frozen lands of the North circulated. Various Cults of daemon worshippers were hidden in pockets amongst major cities. The woods to the east housed mysterious elves who were said to be worshipping a dragon that resided there.
In late BY 2013, The event happened. Huge war machines of what could only be described as metal and magik fell from the sky into the lands of Novium. Unbeknownst to the inhabitants of the planet, Large SHIPs from various Space empires were warring above the planet in hopes of laying claim to its resources. A council of all the major allied races were called, Humans, Dwarves, and Elves alike. Through their combined efforts and powerful Magiks, they erected The Great Magikal Barrier; an energy field around the planet that prevented any of the spacefarring empires from entering, but also prevented anyone from Novium leaving. This barrier was maintained by four powerful flames that was split amongst the races. The flame of Aurantiaco was given to the Dwarves, The flame of Viridi given to the Humans, the flame of Caeruleum to the High Elves, and the flame of Casia given to the Wood Elves of the west. This ensured that one race alone did not control all the flames, and that they would be separated from one another, so that the barrier would remain in tact.
The Human Empire began to crumble in BY 2015. Factions got ahold of more advanced technology from the crashed space crafts, bringing abought greater levels of destructive force than previously seen. One of the SHIPs that crashed in the north awoke the Legions of undead, who descended from the Northern mountains upon man, dwarf, elf, and orc alike. Their numbers were great and their resolve unending. bringing the end of the Empire of Therenth and the death of a majority of the human population. Not all was a loss for the undead legions had thinned and dissipated as well, bringing a brief peace to the land. The old Empire was fragmented and no more, and the flame of Viridi falling into the hand of the Urks. What was left of the humans retreated into the greatest Dwarven mountain fortress of Dag Loduhr, where the flame of Aurantiaco was kept. The high elves fortified their home in the Misty Isles and locked away the flame of Caeruleum, where they began to drift in familarity with their old alliances. The dark elves of the west remained isolated in their woods, shrouded in mystery and holding onto the flame of Casia. The Urks continued to ravage across the plains destroying anything that was left to destroy and growing more powerful from their stolen flame. The undead have retreated to the North and disappeared, but of how long? No one knows.
