Trion: Edgentruppen Korps
Original Army Thread: http://brikwars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=15738
One of the thorns in the side of the Republic of Independent Nations was a lacking and un-standardized infantry korps. While the RIN could take territory quickly with it's vast array of vehicles and mechs, it had difficulty holding territory, especially against insurgents. Alec II recognized this fault, and set to rectify it with a new recruitment drive and a surge in manufacturing for infantry equipment. In order to battle insurgents, as well as the troops of other star empires, the newly reborn Trion Empire was going to need an advantage; an edge if you will.
The Edgentruppen ("Edge Troopers" in Brikverse common) are the Trion Empire's latest development, sporting state-of-the-art equipment and sleek, black battle armor.
Edgentruppen are usually organized into squads of twelve soldiers, which can be further broken up into four three-man fire teams. Each squad also has a sergeant and a heavy weapons specialist.
The individual Edgentruppen rifleman is equipped with an RT-bayoneted laser carbine, a helmet with advanced sensors and breathing equipment (which also completely obscures the soldier's face), and a backpack for additional supplies, munitions, and an emergency air supply.
Leading each twelve-man squad is an Edgentruppen Sergeant, equipped with the same helmet as the rifleman, but with a backpack that allows for enhanced battlefield communications. Sergeants will sometimes carry the same rifles as their counterparts, but are more often seen with a heavy laser pistol and an RT-powered beamsaber.
Providing fire support to each squad is a heavy weapons specialist. While various heavy weapons are planned for later development, as of right now the only standard-issue one is a man-portable gatling laser. Heavies also carry the power pack for their weapons on their backs.
