As the White Nun, Admiral of the White Sector by command of her Imperial Majesty, listened to Pilot Officer McDougal's report concerning the Immortal vessels that had uncloaked in her sector her expression became grave.
'They are armed with missiles, you are certain?'
'Aye Mum, 'tis as I said y'ken,' replied McDougal. 'T ' mortals ha' got cloak'n and sum kinda telegraffy tha' keeps em in foomation. And Mum, tha' paint t' ships black.'
Oh the White Nun did 'ken' alright. It was not for nothing that she had had taken that course in the interpretation of Scots dialects. To date very very few of the foreign nations beyond the Britannian League's borders had managed to 'crack the code' when they intercepted White Sector Marconi telegraph transmissions.
With a sigh the White Nun said, 'Well it seems that we must entertain these new allies with a degree of civility Pilot Officer McDougal.' The Immortals had too much the likeness of wizards and necromancers for her liking, but in this matter she had no choice but to obey the orders from New London. 'Carry my compliments to Captain Wrath on 'Vulcan' and advise him that I want him to rendezvous with the Immortals and escort them to New Glasgow.'
'Aye Mum,' McDougal saluted and was about to leave when the White Nun spoke again.
'And take Sister Mary Constance with you so that she might spiritually counsel our new allies.'
'Aye aye Mum,' grinned McDougal as he touched a finger to his cap. Once out of earshot he broke into laughter, 'Oooo yin 'mortal laddies, ye are in fer a treat.......'

Sounds like a successful strategy to me. Immortals always re-form somewhere, since their underlying nature is independent from the universe in which they manifest, and they can always get new mortal thralls to replace the lost ones.Asterios wrote:Well hope you never use that on my fleets since it would destroy both our fleets and anything in the surounding galaxy, very pointless if you ask me.
There's two problems here. The second problem is that you want to "get a little reality in," but that can be dismissed almost without comment other than that it sounds like you want to be playing almost any other game besides BrikWars.Asterios wrote:yes and anybodies forces can come up with improbable weapons and stuff to rival and/or outbest Warheads stuff, I know that, problem is when do we get a little reality in, like I could come up with a Quantum Temporal Phase Shift Laser (copyright of Trident Arms inc.) which could essentially destroyb a ship backwards thru time nullifying any previous damage it would have done since it would have never existed.
The first problem is that you think that anybody can get away with the stuff Warhead gets away with, because you don't understand the role that social contract has to play. Out of all the forum members, there are only maybe a half-dozen who can claim to have something like a blackhole gun without my finger immediately dropping on the "Ban this user" button. (This is explained in a little more detail in the sidebar to 1.2: Proper Observance of Rules.)
Warhead's proven at every opportunity that if you put an unstoppable game-breaking superweapon in his hands, he'll use it to entertain the hell out of everybody, rather than succumbing to the temptations of game-wrecking and crass one-upmanship the way the rest of the internet seems to. I don't think anyone here knows yet how he plans to make black holes entertaining, but he's earned the benefit of the doubt.
You need to make arguments that start with "it would be more fun if" rather than "you can't have fun because." There's not a person here who will ever give a shit about the science, until you're using it to justify fun rather than block it.

Hot Damn Stubby, I thought Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a mathematician! Well, now I know who he really was, phew, dodged a bullet there... if it ever came up in conversation. Thanks for that!
@Blackdog: Yeah, I think I'm getting muddled on "Warhead" (I hate that saying) and "Micro" scale. I'm trying for Micro Scale here, so if anything they may be too big.

This section has one of my most favorite quotes from the rules:stubby wrote: [(This is explained in a little more detail in the sidebar to 1.2: Proper Observance of Rules.)
Rules are for the small-minded and weak. Let a little kid loose among your collection of bricks sometime, and watch the way he plays. In his hands, those minifigs will have all kinds of crazy battles and adventures, there'll be all the drama, death, and explosions you could ever want, and the whole time that kid won't have to crack open a rulebook even once. How is it that he's so much smarter than we are? The answer is that most of us have had a lot more years of schooling than he has. Wait until he's eighteen, he'll have become just as slack-jawed and dull-eyed as the rest of us.

Oh that... well then I believe it varies greatly. Those are still micro, capable of engaging other ships of the same type. That's why BrikSpace and QuickSpace had designations for classes, instead of being a specific length. Teknology develops in different directions for all empires, resulting in huge box fighters for some and intricate 2" deathdealers for others.

hmmm... seems like I build a bit closer to Warhead scale than micro scale. The Britannian frigates I built were supposed to be about 3/4 the size of the Venus.
I thought the ships you built were too small to be "battlecruisers" mainly because the Darkstar was a battlecruiser as well and it was like twice as big. But I'm not sure that all-missile ships would come that big anyway.
