Zupponn Mining Co. (Last Update 10-14-15)

Postby Zupponn » Sat Aug 06, 2011 8:21 pm

Since the ZMC has been displayed between a number of different threads over the years, I've decided to keep this as the main thread and included links to all previous armory posts I've made for the ZMC.  Enjoy reading this and taking a trip back in time.  Cheers! :guinness:

New stuff! (Most of which can be seen here)

Image
First, here are my new Heavies.  They're sort of a combination of what my old Berserkers were plus the armor like a Terrorkhan.

Image
And here's the whole Heavy Division.  There are 10 in total and I'm up to 8 GTCs now.

Image
Taking a little bit of inspiration from Silent-sigfig's rendition of his ZMC Iconoclast, I modified my old Heavies into Elites.  These guys are the best of the standard infantry and are equipped with better armor and rifles.  Oftentimes the Elites are seen traveling with Zupponn himself as his personal bodyguard.

Image
I've been a little disappointed that I've only ever made a single vehicle for the ZMC for a while now and had some treads lying around, so I put this guy together.  Introducing the ZMC Whirling Death.

Image
It's armed with 2 cannons, 2 missile racks, and spinning saws of GT death.  The cockpit is also rotational.

Image
And here's the backside.  Nothing too special, but I did add a small ladder for some reason.

Image
Other than those bigger changes, now both of the hardsuits are armed with shoulder cannons (the one hardsuit's GTC is now with a Heavy) and there are now 3 Heavy Weapons Specialists (up from 2).

Image
I got sick of my old ZMC standard rifle and changed it slightly to both increase the amount of GT used in it and to shorten it so I can allow a couple more minifigs travel in the Bullet Bill Transport Vehicle.

Image
I did not completely abandon the old rifle's design though and added a few extra parts to it for my new Heavy Infantry unit.

Image
The GTC berserker now sports a sweet new facemask.

Image
These changes were all made in my quest to diversify the ZMC's troops a little more.  The army now contains 3 GTC berserkers, 4 Heavy Infantry, 8 Standard Infantry, 2 Heavy Weapons Specialists, 2 Hardsuits (one of which is sporting a new big shoulder gun), 1 Robot, 1 Bullet Bill Transport Vehicle (Not shown), and 1 Zupponn.

As you can see, not much has changed from before except for the addition of Green Transparent visors to replace the ugly Black Transparent ones.

Original Post:

Originally, the ZMC was just a bunch of minifigs in Aquaraiders/Aquasharks armor, but after a while, I felt dissatisfied with that and wanted more cohesion as a unit.  So, I worked on changing the mercenaries, making a theme based off of mainly black and GT.  Storywise, this was all funded by the ZMC being hired by the Immortals.  Wanting to look more professional, Zupponn went out and spent some of the money from the contract to get new uniforms.

Image
This is the ZMC as it stands today.

Image
Nothing has changed with the ZMC transport vehicle, except the personnel operating it now sport the new ZMC look.

Image
The same goes for the ZMC drop pod, but I'm thinking about changing the color scheme to better fit the rest of the group.

Image
I might look to build more of these robots in the future.  They are also unchanged from the previous iteration.

Image
The ZMC hardsuits have exchanged their drills for GTCs.  They also now sport visors.

Image
The ZMC has gained a bit of technology from their business deal with the Immortals.  The guy in the front on the left has a modified Immortal heavy weapon, while the rest have just basic ZMC rifles.

Image
The merc on the front on the right sports a new experimental ZMC heavy weapon that tries to draw upon the energies of raw GT crystals for extra firepower. Again, the rest just carry standard rifles.

Image
Zupponn has changed his look a little.  He still carries the power mace, but he has swapped visors and now carries a GT shield.

If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, let me know.  Cheers! :guinness:

Image
This is a transport vehicle for the Zupponn Mining Co.

Image

Image

Image

Image
I know this one's a bit blurry, but the robot I posted in the Zupponn Mining Co. thread can fold up and fits in the back of the transport.

Image
The transport can hold up to 4 mercenaries.

Image
Sadly, the hardsuits do not fit in the transport unless they are empty.

Image
The transport has a twin cannon on the top that's manned by a gunner.

Image
And the front can open up to expose the driver.

Image
Here is the Zupponn Mining Co. drop pod.

Image

Image

Image

Image
The drop pod can open and fit one mercenary...

Image
...who then is set to be launched where he is needed.

Image
The drop pod can also be launched from land into space at opposing ships.  Since the ZMC has no ships currently, its engineers are trying to come up with other space defenses.

Image
Being very tiny, the pod can dodge a lot of radar systems.

Image

Image

Image
The armor of the pod is durable enough to break through most ships' armor...

Image
...and get the party started.

Since my last pictures were terrible, I felt I owed it to you guys to retake some of them.

Image
Zupponn with the power mace.

Image
A hardsuit.

Image
One of the robots mentioned above.

Zupponn wrote:Hi, I've been lurking here for a few weeks and was inspired to dust off the old Legos again.  I've come up with the Zupponn Mining Co., owned and run by Zupponn, a former mercenary-for-hire.  Zupponn Mining Co. mines a deep space asteroid belt mainly for Green Transparent and whatever else they can sell.  The company also has a group of mercenaries for security, although it is not unheard of for the group to take on the occasional odd job.  On these occasions Zupponn himself will lead the mercs... blah blah blah.  You probably don't want to read all of that.  Here's the pictures(I apologize for the poor quality.  I will try to get a better camera and better lighting next time):

Image
Zupponn, the leader of the operations.  He is armed with a power mace that can also shoot lasers.

Image

Image

Image
Zupponn Mining Co. is currently experimenting in Hardsuit technology.  This model has a drill on the right arm and a cutting laser on the left.  Although created for mining, it is surprising how well equipment designed to cut through rock can cut through minifigs.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image
Originally thought up as precision cutting specialists, these robots quickly found a better use alongside the mercenaries.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image
And now we get to the mercenaries.  The one on the left has a GTC and a laser rifle with rocket attachment.  The one on the right has a beam saber and an SMG.

Image
The guy on the left has a nova sword and a machine pistol.  The guy on the right has a laser rifle and a katana.

Image
It is odd that the least armored guy carries the rocket launcher(he also has a hatchet).  The other dude has an OTC and a sawed-off shotgun.

Image
Our final guy carries a Gatling gun and a katana.

Image

Image
And finally, we have our miners at work.

Yes very good, a definite improvement.  They very much look like a cohesive unit now.  I like the transport vehicle too.

I like the updated uniforms, they look like professional force now, and appearances are important in Brikwars. Also, the GT crystal gun is awesome. :guinness:

Thanks for the comments guys.  I'm glad you like them.

I actually wasn't sure about the crystal gun, but if you guys like it, maybe I'll keep it.

drop pod needs work.  Add some cool bits like decent slowing thrusters, or a parachute device, or something.  Looks to... plain.  I like the hard suits though, good faces for them!  :D

Glad you liked the hardsuits, but why would you want to slow down a drop pod?  Do you want the enemy to actually see it coming or something?

only if you fail a "what i say goes" roll.

lol, okay your right.  I was just saying that all it is, is a cockpit piece, and a little more detail would make it look 20% better in ten seconds flat.  Or you could put wings behind it and mount a engine piece there as well, and have a fighter, because those cockpit pieces are awesome for planes.
Eh, i don't know, the rest of the army looks so cool that the drop pod looks plain.

Edit: I'm not trying to be rude, please don't take it that way.    Just constructive criticism

I'd post the coresponding Rainbow Dash gif, but I'm too lazy to search for it.
