Really, it's so easy to outsmart people in discussions, most people just suck completely at it, so badly you can hardly get anything out of it yourself and make the discussion completely unworthwhile. Anyone else noticed this? Or would it be better to just expect most people to suck at most things?

It's not that I discuss for fun (I actually hate it), but a lot of people are dicks all the time and I just can't keep my mouth shut when I hear shit I disagree with and I see it as my moral duty to make dumbasses realize they're just that, dumbasses.

Robot Monkey doesn't know what trolling is(or I've sucked at it so much the definition has changed.) In any "discussion" he can denounce it as if I'm trolling him by telling him that you couldn't kill the lancelot albion by jumping onto it, and even if you somehow did jump on it you'd probly get fried by the shields or when I tell him that a shitty movie is shitty.

Also, IRL people do this to me. When I told this guy that blind people can use sonar, he replied "-5, troll". I hate getting found out.

If the people are willing to listen, then the discussion will go well, even if everyone goes away believing the same things they did when they started. If they aren't willing to listen, then don't bother.

In real life I only put the effort in when the person seems to want to have a real discussion and not just trying to prove I am wrong.

On the internet I find most people just act like total shit turds and thus I put even less effort into most conversations. I am too tired to really deal with most of them.

But when you find a person who really wants to discuss something on a reasonable level, real life or internet, it can be quite fun.
