Oh god so on Friday I got to see:

Overkill
Saboton
Testament
Anthrax
Megadeth
Iron Maiden

Overkill only got a little tiny stage, but they still kicked serious ass.

Saboton had hilarious accents but had INSANE stage presence. They brought some little kid on stage and threw a bunch of guitar picks at him. They opened up with Ghost Division.

Testament got up on stage and played literally non-stop. No song breaks, no nothing. They only played for half an hour or so, but that's okay considering that they only stopped playing when it was time to leave.

Anthrax FUCKING KILLED IT. They made the audience fucking explode and everyone freaked out when they opened with Caught In a Mosh. They even covered some AC/DC!

Megadeth opened with Hangar 18, did monster performances of Peace Sells, Wake Up Dead, Sweating Bullets, and had Holy Wars as an encore. It was Dave Mustaine's birthday, and they had a kick-ass performance.

Maiden was the headliner, and it was everything an Iron Maiden show is supposed to be. Even if Bruce Dickinson's the oldest motherfucker there, he had more energy than anyone else who performed. They ran for like... 2 hours, with a 3 song encore.

Anyways all my headbanging muscles are dead and my face got melted off. During pretty much the entire show, some guys had a massive bonfire burning in the middle of the arena. Fucking metal.

Okay that's pretty sweet. Tell me you at least had to see them with a shitty SoCal audience, so that I won't have to be jealous.

That's a pretty sweet lineup indeed. Except for Sabaton. Say no to hobbit metal.

Naw son. It was in San Bernardino and it drew people from all over California - the previous show was Vegas. But of course there were a bunch of LA douches.

Saboton mostly played off of Art of War. Their goofy accents were hilarious, and they refused to swear for the - I shit you not this is a quote - "Little ones in the audience." They bitched about the heat and shit, but they still played really well. Still, we spent a good part of the concert and the next day saying "Ve are Sabaton Frum Sveden" over and over again.

You know the "Big Four" consists of four bands, right? It's stupid to call them Thrash's biggest, but hey, money money money.

Anyways, that's a pretty sweet line-up! I wished more american bands toured around Europe. And by Europe I don't mean freakin' Germany and UK only! :P

In the next few months we'll be having some heat around here actually. I'll be going to see Hypocrisy by the end of this month. Then on October Children of Bodom are coming, not sure if I'll attend this one. And finally on glorious November, Amorphis, Satyricon and Dark Tranquility.

Have any of you fellas watched any of these guys live?

Yes, all of them. None of them are huge favourites of mine (anymore) but they are all good live bands.
Amorphis get the most respect for me because they still play songs from their first albums and the cool thing about that unlike other old heroes of mine from the 90ies they don't play them in watered down pussyfied versions.
Children of Bodom can be very annoying with Alexi fucking say fuck in every fucking sentence and then some.
Dark Tranquility are very good.
Satyricon i haven't seen in more than 10 years i think. Nowadays i'd be more interested in the females in the audience rather than their music.

No good bands ever come here. Black Sabbath came a while ago, but my mom didn't want me to go because she thought if I went I would get hooked on drugs.

All I can say is that it was a hell of a day. I lit up a joint in the middle of Anthrax and it was awesooooome. Too bad the beer was so fucking expensive, but I figured this was a once-in-a-lifetime type of event and that paying too much for beer was justifiable.

Okay, I also lit up a joint during Testament.

BEWARE: smoking weed can have dangerous side effects, such as never shutting up about the fact you smoke weed.

This is the most credible anti-weed slogan I've ever read.

Please, I knew about that one. Most of my point was just the disbelief at how frustrating expensive beer was vs. the fact that sneaking in joints was so easy.

I mean I didn't even notice how annoying the Los Angeles crowd must have been. There was only one yuppie holding his iphone in front of my face to record the show.
