Just got back. Devin Townsend was indeed very good - he was funny (his stage banter is absolutely the best), personable and most importantly of course, the music was great. I had heard good things about him but he still managed to surprise me with his original sound. I missed most of Channel Zero, unfortunately, but Devin Townsend Project's performance made up for it.
I can't help but not like Down though, I left after two songs. I think their music is uninspired and I don't like Phil Anselmo either, not as a singer, not as a performer and not as a person...
No problem though, 'cos Dimmu Borgir was pretty decent as well, and this is coming from someone who doesn't listen to Black Metal. The vocals (what keeps me from listening to Black Metal most of the time) were tolerable and that helps because I do like Black Metal instrumentally.
It was my third time seeing Motörhead and this was easily the best. Very good performance by Lemmy and the guys. That was the show I looked forward to most, I'm a huge Within Temptation fan but I didn't like much of what I'd heard from the last album so I feared they would suck, but they were absolutely fantastic as well - even the new songs sounded better live. All in all a good day for metal, a great day for metalkind
