A "lightning" is a discharge of electricity from the atmosphere, generally reaching temperatures vastly exceeding that of the surface of the sun, and channeling a current of some 40 kA and transferring about 500 MJ, ranging from a few meters to several kilometers in length (depending upon where you live, it could be a few hundred) but only perhaps a centimeter or two in diameter. (The shock produced by the superheating of nearby air to about ten thousand degrees Celsius causes the accompanying thunder.)

That's the scientific definition. Simply put? Something of fairly small size but immense, unpredictable power, that-- hopefully-- does not strike you or your house.
Were it that simple...

You mean you DON'T want to get hit with them? What are you, mad?
I go out in thunderstorms with my ten-foot pole, in hopes that I get struck and am imbued with superpowers! It works in the movies...

Is he the guy that they based that Secret of Mana game on?

Of course he doesn't want to get struck by lightning! With the amount of live ammunition the Professor carries around, he'd probably explode in a gigantonormous fireball visible from the other side of the galaxy!

...Actually, that gives me a good idea! I'm'a gonna go get my camera really quick, so don't touch nothing!

You could only survive various bolts if you were Roy C. Sullivan.

FUN FACT: lightning strikes men four times as often as it strikes women.

I shat bricks in my Grade 9 science class when I found out that lightning goes from the ground, up.

Never heard of that game Ray. Mana here is a musician and fashion designer.

Because, in general, men are 4 times more evil than women.

My thinks.

Mmmmm, I think men and women are the same amount of evil.

Stupidity men have covered. Fiendishness women have covered.

Karma doesn't exist. That would qualify under 'magic', which doesn't exist. I'm pretty sure that men are just 4 times stupider than women, and are thus 4 times more likely to be standing in an empty* field during a thunderstorm. They're also sometimes masochists. And the ones who are neither stupid nor masochists are sadists, so convince the stupid ones to stand in an empty* field during a thunderstorm.

*But of course, if the dude is standing there, the field is not empty.

Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.

I half-heartedly believe in karma, but that's only to keep myself in check. I'm less likely to do an evil deed if I think it'll bite me in the ass later. It's quite funny, really, considering I'm someone who accuses the Bible of that, among other things

Actually, I think that it'd be that men are simply taller than women on average.

Now, should I post something misogynistic as a counter to your misandry laden post?
