MECH-QUEST (LXF INSIDE)
Well then ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my third and smallest idea of the trio I am working on at the moment.
I present to you
MECH-QUEST
The rough idea is thus.
Every 24/48 hours I will post a series of choices, some of these will be vote dependant, others will be post dependant - and through a forum consensus we will design, kit and colour a Mobile Frame 0 inspired microscale mecha and put it through its paces in an arena style layout.
For the first of these choices, the chassis - see the vote up above, I will be taking results on the 19th and then posting the next choice. So have at it lads and laddesses.

Re: MECH-QUEST
Does this require much knowledge of the MF0 rules? 'Cause I haven't read the whole PDF yet.

Re: MECH-QUEST
I am using a very loose version of the rules with some homebrew of my own to make it run as an RP/Quest rather than an outright slog fest.
As we build the mech and I show more options it will become clear BFenix.

If you aren't voting six legs, you are doing it wrong, that's SIX legs with which to crush hapless civilians at once.

Hover is faster, quad has fewer parts to go wrong while maintaining the same stability.

Re: MECH-QUEST
For the sake of speed and the number of votes so far, in have taken the chassis vote down to only 1 day. Which means there is now less than 11 hours left to cast your vote.
It looks like 6 legs is in the lead with reverse joint just one vote behind, so it's all up to you guys before the next vote commences.

Re: MECH-QUEST
Behold, the Six legged chassis, now I shalt reselt the poll - giving you 48 hours and 2 votes to pick the next selections.
These selections will be devided into two choices.
The first choice selections are the Mechas Weight Class, divided into -
Light - Fastest Speed, but lower Armour and fewer Weapon choices.
Medium - An even mix of Speed, Armour and Weapons.
Heavy - Lowest Speed, but heavier Armour and most Weapon choices.
The second choice will be the Mechas Specialization Package, divided into -
Assault - A focus on Weapons, offering more assault options to the Mecha.
Standard - An even spread of Weapons and Armour, in essence a Jack of all Trades.
Fortress - A focus on Armour, offering more defensive options to the Mecha.
Applying this, a Light Assault build Mecha would be a fast moving glass cannon that would have to strike first and keep moving to survive, whereas a Heavy Fortress would keep a slow, steady pace handing out as much punishment as it takes. Work out the other options from there.
As I will be away from tomorrow, I will leave the vote open for 48 hours - and you can continue to discuss from the thread of course.
Until the next time gents.

Re: MECH-QUEST
It does feel like I'm voting a bit blind, but if for the Fortress package, you're talking all around survivability upgrades, beyond just more plating, then the choice I'd put forward is Light Fortress. It may seem illogical, but hear me out. I'm thinking of this mech being a real marauder, for behind enemy lines, not just the simple minded 'Raiding' tactics, but actually being able to move into heavily controlled territory, and have all the tools to evade enemies, move in and attack a target of opportunity, then have both the speed, and the tools, whether that is active obfuscation like smoke or stealth, electronic warfare tools like EMP or Just plain old solid slabs of composite armour and a low profile to quickly escape from any responding enemy. The unit would then be able to go to ground, make itself all but undiscoverable by an enemy, and launch another attack on another day on another unsuspecting target.
This may be a very stretched interpretation of the 'Fortress' option, but defence means more than just having the thickest plating.
Also scythe, those legs are win, will we get to pick out a colour scheme?
Also, I'm not going to vote until I hear what others have to say.

Re: MECH-QUEST
Damnit, you skipped ahead of me Dilanski - I was saving those reveals until the entire thing had been assembled - There are choices being made behind the scenes based on what you pick that are a little bit more advanced than would seem immediately obvious. They will be revealed as time goes on.dilanski wrote:It does feel like I'm voting a bit blind, but if for the Fortress package, you're talking all around survivability upgrades, beyond just more plating, then the choice I'd put forward is Light Fortress. You will be able to pick a colour scheme once the entire design is complete - at the moment I am yet to decide on whether it should be picking out a primary/secondary colour scheme or a primary/secondary/tertiary colour scheme. Then you lot get to put forward names and vote for the best out of all the options within 24 hours.
BUT - that is all in good time. We have many more choices to make first. Eh?
