East of the Mirthanese, Narische is the second largest of the Mirthanese islands. offcially ceded over to South Mirthan following the 1960's civil war, Narische was largely an unimportant part of the country, relying on tourism and a few offshore oil deposits as its economy. Until in 2009, vast deposites of Tungsten, Iron, and Bauxite was discovered along much of the Western half. The island boasted a very large Muslim population, descendents of pioneers from Indonesia.

Prime Minister of South Mirthan, Hansel Braun meets with General Friedhelm Daisuke of the North Mirthanese Air Force. Daisuke was also the leader of opposition to the Northern governement. Daisuke favored normalizing relations with the South. On December 9th 2010, Daisuke was assassinated by Northern Nationalists. With Daisuke and his majority popularity gone, the North moved itself into a much more expansionist stance.

With hopes of peace now gone. South Mirthan improved defenses all across the border. However Narische was largely overlooked. Narische relied on Naval forces from the cities of Atlas and East City to form its main defense. leaving an almost token garrison to protect the island. and with the newly discovered mineral resources, Narische was prize ready to be taken.

After 14 days of naval warfare, the Admiral Winter finally gave the order for ships to pull back. the Southern navy pulled back into the Sea of Dragons between Mirthan and Narische. losses totaled to 9 ships sunk, 21 damaged.

Civilian areas in Schutenhelm and Landers were evacuated quickly following Northern airstrikes. Northern Marines landed on the once crowded tourist beaches and swiftly took the cities.

Northern troops ripped across the sparsely populated desertscrub terrain and took most of the southern half and most of the Northeast. Southern troops are finally assembled and form a defensive line around New Berlin and Crestin.

The Southern forces were outnumbered and outmatched. the retreated from most of the villages that dotted the landscape. they did however leave generous amounts of weapons and ammo to the civilian population as well as minefields along major roads.

Northern troops breach defenses around New Berlin, the Islands largest city. The event occured during Ramadan, a major Muslim holiday of fasting, most residents were observing the holiday and were not listening to radio or TV. South Mirthan had to drive around with megaphones, calling every active reservist on the island into action.

South Mirthan still retained control of the sea between islands, With the port at New Berlin damaged, South Mirthanese marine reinforcement landed along the western coast near the Crestin perimeter. Northern air superiority was a constant concern, hence the Samurai-Naginata anti-aircraft system positioned in combat stance.

Conscription wasnt the only way the South raised forces. given the importance of Narische to the country's Muslim population, the government launched a series of ad campaigns encouraging muslim citizens to join and fight. the campaing became known as "Freir Mann Jihad" (Free Men's Duty)

After 8 days of fighting, the marines break through and provide reilief to the besieged forces. in Crestin, it was unfortunately not enough, and rather than fight, Leadership decided to use the gap to withdraw the troops back to the landing zones.

South Mirthanese forces are now in the process of withdrawing from Narische. Many isolated pockets were forced to surrender or integrate with the civilian population.
Northern troops inspect a pile of discarded South Mirthanese uniforms and equipment. many troops ditched their military attire and integrated into civilian life. many of these men were labeled as missing until 2015.

The last settlement on Narische is finally abandoned. swarms of military personell and refugees are loaded onto the ships off shore.
Air Force Airmen strip the on-board equipment from a Longsword Helicopter. given the sheer size of the airlift, and limited space on ship decks, helicopter crews would offload their passengers and ditch the choppers into the ocean to make space for more helicopters. meanwhile, sailors and marines try to keep some semblance of order amid the chaotic mess of refugees on the ships deck.

After ceasefire was officially negotiated, Narische was annexed by North Mirthan and became a major threat to the South Mirthans east coast. The vast mineral reserves proved only slightly useful, as trained southern loyalists began an insurgency that would last until the islands liberation in a second conflict the next year.
