My evaporator fan was making a ton of noise for a few days.
I searched around and found the part I needed and a repair video, which is posted at the end.
I ordered the part on Monday at 11:30 am and received it around 3:30pm on Tuesday, UPS normal shipping from Albany NY.
I have never done any work on a refrigerator before, but the video looked simple enough.
View with the back panel removed.
The new motor is on the left.
In the video the guy says, remove the fan, and he just gently slides it off.
Uhm, no. I had to pull with all my nerd strength, trying to be careful not to rip off a fan blade.
The fan has no smooth parts around that inner bit. Both front and back have sharp fangs of plastic from the molding process I suppose.
So in order to remove the fan you need to try to impale your fingers on the sharp plastic to avoid ripping off a fan blade.
You can see the ground wire attached to the bracket.
It has a hex head and I only had an adjustable wrench which wouldn't fit.
So I needed to make a trip to Lowes. 45 in store minutes later I wasted $15 on some set, most of which I didn't want.
I was mostly concerned that the driver shaft wasn't long enough. But it was ok.
