True, we only need to know where and when... me more so than the others since I need to ask for time off from work 3 weeks in advance.

The source comics and games over by Rosedale mall has been ok'ed for use for Brikwars anytime we want it. So that's a good location. (northern suburbs of the twin cities, maybe 10 minutes drive away from downtown)

As for the time, unless my plans change drasitcally, any weekend this summer would work fine. For the sake of having a date down; let's tenatively schedule for June 21st; we can always change that as nessecary.

As for armies; to keep things reasonably even we'd probably go with;
15 standard minifigs
2 specialists of your choice (i.e. ninjas, officers, gunners, pilots ect)
1 Hero (standard hero, gamebreaking heroes like "Piltogg" not allowed)

and say up to 50 CP worth of equipment (I.e. weapons for your minifigs, explosives, vehicles, transport, whatever else you'd like.
This army size should keep turn length down to a reasonable size.

Since we have some time to go before this is planned to take place, let's also come up with a scenario now and assign building of terrain for the feild to whoever is planning on going.

Personally, I think it would be fun if each army represented a competeing pizza restaurant in LEGO city, they would each be assigned various places they would need to deliver pizza to, while they would also need to prevent the other armies from delivering their own pizzas. I can see people trying to knock down buildings to form roadbloacks, setting up sniper positions to take out pizza delivery boys, and maybe we could even build an underground tunnel system for the city, where further shenanigans could take place.

Serious planning should start now, I am still a maybe but I hope for the go ahead soon, I like the sound of the pizza delivery but I really want to go head to head with some of the epic armies on this forum, so I shall be bringing a smallish ESF Force, with my Hammerhead tank and terrain

Actually bringing this up now, however as I am unsure whether or not I will be able to attend this is still a maybe. I was thinking if we have a whole day to game, we may be able to do a couple of different things. While normal skirmishes, armies, and objectives are fine and all, with all the hype going on about BrikwaRPG I feel we should each create a character or characters and bring them along with our armies to the game. I also vote we use Bricksyd's rules

that's a good point.

I think what style of game it will be depends largely on how many people show up. If it's just 2 or 3 of us, large "epic-scale" armies are doable, but if we have like 8 players, small armies with specific objectives like the pizza idea are a lot more feasible. So certainly, bring all the crap you wanna bring; but it may or may not be usable.

BrickwaRPG is also an interesting idea, and we might as well plan for that, and time allowing it can be done.

I'm not sure about the 27th, July is probably better for me, but I'm not sure of it yet. Most of the rest sounds good, but the limit seems a little arbitrary, maybe variable depending on who shows up, and we put an upper limit of 40 or 50 if there's only 3-4
The only unflawed system is Lego System.

Ok, so I've been talking to Daniel Siskind over at Brikmania (They sell custom WW2 lego sets, tank treads, and resell brickarms stuff), and it looks like we can host our Brikwars over at Brikmania HQ . They would probably also advertise the game on their website so we'd be able to draw in more new players.

So we have some options:

1. We can host a Brikwars game at Brickmania's Twin Cities based convention; World War Brick. If we do this, the game is open to pass-holders at the convention. Passes cost $50 if you buy them now, and cover three days of con-going, a t-shirt, food, and a goodie bag of awesome stuff from brickmania and brickarms and G.I. Brick. The con is june 20-something over a weekend. (look It up for further details). If we did this, Brikwars is just one of many fun activities we'd all get to participate in.

2. Brickmania holds an open house twice a month every month. They have an area for birthday parties that they would be willing to let us use to play brikwars in. We can also advertise for this to bring in new players. An added bonus is that you can buy brickarms accessories from stock at these events, so you don't need to pay for shipping and handling so it's a little bit cheaper.

Who has opinions? Personally, I'd think it would be most fun to host Brikwars at the World War Brick convention, as it allows us to promote Brikwars as a game and there will be a lot of other things going on.

Ah, that would be do-able. I work nearish there... Hmm...

Hmm, while i like the idea of promoting the game at the con, you'd have to count me out. My wife is looking for another job right now and I don't think I can swing the reg fee, but let me talk with she-who-controls-the-budget...

This would actually be a little easier for me, and if they advertise ahead of time, we would probably get a decent number of attendees. Could maybe even make it a once-a-month thing perhaps.

Well, I do like the shipyard battle idea, and would be willing to take the time to make some containers and terrain. Tanks might be a little harder for me to come by, but only because most of my collection is castle-era, not modern, but I'm sure I could make an APC or a couple of Walkers.

Pizza battle sounds a little weird, but could be entertaining.

The problem with BrikwarsRPG is setting up terrain. If we only have one or two set locations, it wouldn't be too bad.

Ironically, it would actually be easier for me to get to the Source than to Brickmania's storefront. I live close to the Source (~3 miles away), but Brickmania as a game location not only makes more sense, but as you mentioned it does have the added benefits of being chock-full of Brikarms goodness. :warhead:

You sir, are clearly an almost neighbor. - From Shoreview.

It's a lil bit harder to get to brickmania for me as well, but it's worth it for the ability to buy brickarms stuff and to check out their sweet train dioramma.

Currently, I think we'd go for a battle at World War Brick, then if that goes well for us, we'd follow up on that with a second battle maybe the month afterwards, which would take place either at Brickmania or at the source.

I'm writing up a much more in-depth storyline scenario for the con-based game, and I'll post that to the wiki or something once it's done then link to that here.

Hmm, kind of. I'm in Saint Paul, just outside of the Midway area...

True, they are good dioramas. Wish they'd come out with narrow gauge track pieces. The real issue I have is a lack of vehicle. I am bus-dependant.

Okay, that works, and I'll see if I can swing the con reg as a late birthday present from my wife or something. Besides, while work may hate it when I do this, I DO have to go on vacation EVENTUALLY...

Alright. so it looks like we are going to run "Ambush at Matua" for world war brick.

And then the month afterwards we'll run Sanford and son at either the source or brickmania HQ.

See the following, particularily the pdf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=71584
