Already in the rulebook.
A Gun Horse (Cost: +3CP) is any Horse with built-in ranged weapons. Whether from eye lasers, fiery breath, or machine guns, all Gun Horse Guns have the same weapon stats.

Weapon Cost Use Range Damage Notes
Gun 3CP 3 6" 1d6 -

Putting a Gun on a Horse doesn't replace any Close Combat abilities it may or may not have, but remember that Horses, like minifigs, can only make one type of attack per turn.

The school wanted my parents to do that when I was a kid, but we had just moved back from England. Kids are in second grade by the age of 4 over there.

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's not fun for everyone involved. Ever played MTG?

If the unit is in the same Squad, or has the Bodyguard specialty (which I don't think is in the rules yet), then he can RedShirt automatically. Otherwise a unit moving at Half Speed probably can't RedShirt successfully unless it can immediately cancel the Half Speed at will (for instance, by dropping a heavy load before leaping).

But then the bodyguard survives. And we can't have that.
It's more in the spirit of the game to have a huge entourage of expendable squishies.
