Wait, can my Droids still have the Marksmanship Specialty which gives them a +1 for Shooting but a -2 for Close Combat?stubby wrote:The older statcards are from before I decided that all Skill levels have to be a single die, no exceptions. Re: BW 2010 feedback
Coming back to some older content, are mechaniks going to be looked at in detail? I had a game some time ago with friends based entirely around mechaniks (emptied a tub of lego over the floor, built bases, was fun), but In the end, we had to fudge up the power of the mechanik.
We kind of wanted to get them building full vehicles from the strewn debris, ala 'Master-builders' from TLM. But we threw most of the size rules out the window, and ended up bumping the collection area to 2d6, it made things a lot more fun. Has there been any other play testing with mechanics to contrast this against?

Not of this type. So far I've only had Mechanix up against relatively small piles of debris, where a building or vehicle had been destroyed, rather than in a large field of potential parts.dilanski wrote:We kind of wanted to get them building full vehicles from the strewn debris, ala 'Master-builders' from TLM. But enough about Mechanix for a minute! I've uploaded some new updates to the rules. Major points include:
- Momentum got simplified a bunch. MOMs are now a little more like general-purpose Bennies or SN dice. Charges and Collisions are simpler now. MOMs now determine how far a vehicle can jump off a ramp, and how far it continues traveling if it loses power.
Half Speed also got simplified. You can now have as many different Half Speed effects stacked as you want, and it's still just Half Speed. The exception is swimming and winged flight - you still can't carry heavy objects or wear heavy armor while swimming or using wings to fly.
Size Damage no longer penalizes -1" of Move for every -1" of Size Damage. Instead, when your Effective Size is knocked down to 50% or less, you're at Half Speed.
A couple dozen new photos throughout the book, including some to replace older low-quality photos. Lots of little clarifications and cleanups everywhere.
A lot of things that used to cause Movement Penalties don't anymore. They were annoying to keep track of. Disruption is now moved to the movement section rather than the Bailing section, but is otherwise the same.

I think that this can be simplified by doing it similar to the gunner, where 2 identical units can work together to boost skill/rollsstubby wrote:I've got a similar thing coming up (sort of) with a Chapter 11 unit, probably to be called the Assistant, who increases a Specialist's specialty die size +1. Originally intended to serve as nurses to a Medik, but extendable to any other Specialists who happen to be around.

At this rate he might get the 2010 book done before 2016 comes around.

Re: BW 2010 feedback
Quick question: when will the page on squads be added to the BW 2010?

Re: BW 2010 feedback
Yeah. The 2005 rules are around somewhere which should tell you the basics of squads. From what I remember here are the changes made for 2010:
6: Forming squads does not cost an action.
7: Officers now raise every unit in the squad's skill by 1 dice size.

I'm the only one who ever worked on any of them.
But this week I decided to quit working on BrikWars and just work on Minecraft mods instead. My latest masterpiece lets zombie mobs drop butts that players can wear on their faces.
My life will be complete when one of the zombies picks up a zombie butt and wears it on his own face. I'll post screenshots.

That needs to be on the server.
Re: BW 2010 feedback
Buttcraft is going well. Unfortunately the zombies are not picking up and wearing their butts automatically like I'd hoped, so I may have to go in and edit their AI.
You'd think it would be easy because of the pumpkin, but you would not believe how stupidly complicated it is to make an alpha-blended vision overlay like this.

Squads have been sacrificed to a noble cause, I suppose..stubby wrote:Buttcraft is going well. Unfortunately the zombies are not picking up and wearing their butts automatically like I'd hoped, so I may have to go in and edit their AI.

I wonder what could reduce your vision to a star shape?
