Energy Shields As Weapons?

So im messing around with a larger creation that has a sword and i was thinking how could i squeeze extra damage out of the weapon so i thought what if we could attach energy shields to weapons and have their shields give damage instead of protection? Such as power weapons in the warhammer 40k universe?

Why not just assign a SN dice for additional affect?

Well as far as i have thought it could even the playing field so to speak as the energy shields cost power to activate effectively making the weapon itself better but cost more power to use.

Just make it count as a bigger weapon.
Usually if you add some power effect bullshit thing I'm super fine with a weapon counting as bigger then it actually is.
For example a chainsaw is usually really short but because it is engine powered I'm fine with them being heavy weapons or two-handed weapons.
The same for power fists or energy sword or what ever the fuck you like.
So I would just add some power orbs energy loading bullshit and count it as a bigger weapon. Done.

People keep coming up with these over-complicated rules pfor stuff when there's always a simpler option.
