The Heroic Team

"In 1978, four ordinary minifigures were sent to the bottom of the bin by a Human for being kind of lame. These men promptly escaped from their maximum security stockade to the Brikverse underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The Heroic Team."

Required Listening:

Look, not everyone has a fancy enough hat or a big enough gun to be a Hero on their own.  But when you put together four guys with special skills, they can pull off heroic feats as a team!

Here's how it works:
  • Each team of four costs 6 u".  There must be exactly four members on the team and each one must have a classic team role (e.g., the hacker, the driver, the muscle, the con, the brains, etc.)
  • Each guy gets 1d8 armor and 1d6 skill (+1 when they attempt their role on the team)
  • The team gets one heroic feat per round, attempted either by an individual member or with some teamwork.  For each additional team member attempting the feat, add +1 to your heroic feat roll.  There are strong thematic limits on their feats - if they were a buncha baseball players, they would not be able to use their team feat to slam dunk the Jordan.
  • Each member can have an additional specialty if desired per http://brikwars.com/rules/draft/11.htm
  • The team does not suffer from Crankiness, nor do they incite it in regular Heroes.
  • If a member dies, a new member can be recruited from a nearby ally (following Redshirt rules).  This new member automatically assumes the role of "the Kid," has no role bonus or specialty and cannot attempt feats on his own.
  • (New Rule) When only one member of the Heroic Team remains, he can become a regular Hero with 2d6 armor and the Heroic Ego.  This does not apply to "the Kid".  (If the Heroic Team is led by a fifth man who is a Hero, the fifth man must also die for this to apply.)

You know what, I'd love to playtest this mechanic once I get the opportunity to do another forum battle.

Awesome, I'd love to get more opinions about it.  I'm trying it right now in my forum battle so when that's done I'll also share a post-mortem.

These, plus a standard Hero, could make for a solid Sentai style 5 man band.

As soon as I made this, I thought to myself it would be perfect for Duerer

Does sound like fun. This may have a practical use for something I have planned.

I added a new rule - when only one member of the Heroic Team remains (including the fifth Hero leader if applicable) then he can become a fully-fledged Hero himself to avenge the deaths of his teammates.  He maintains the same Action Hero trope he came in with.
