Silenced Weapons & other stuff

Post by Robot Monkey » Wed Jun 08, 2011 11:36 am

Silenced Weapons

In order for a weapon to be silenced, it has to have some indication of a silencer on it or has to be a small (knife, brass knuckle, etc) melee weapon. When you kill a minifig with a silenced weapon, and the death is not in any other minifig's cone of vision, roll a D4.

1= crit fail. All minifigs within 10'' heard the shot.
2= moderate success. Only minifigs within 5'' of the kill hear the shot.
3= success. Only minifigs within 3'' of the kill hear it.
4= Crit success. No one hears the shot.

Same thing applies with knives/brass knuckles/etc.

Skill: Point-blank shots

When the barrel of a minifig's gun can touch another minifig, the minifig with the gun gets +1D6 to his damage and skill rolls, and if the weapon is a pistol, he gets a "silence" roll, as if the weapon was silenced.

So what do you guys think?

Point Blank should probably be a skill instead of a rule, since the basic rule is you can't use ranged weps in CC as a ranged wapon.

Skill: silent grenade toss

When a minifig has this skill, he is capable of arming and throwing explosives, all while remaining totally unheard. The explosions, of course, aren't silent. UR:3 (on top of the explosive's UR.)

Probably shouldn't make point blank pistol shots silenced, there's still just as much bang. Other than that, sounds good!
This should be in the Rulebook somewhere:

i think he means point blank as'my barrel is in the guy's nose' and the corpse is the silencer.

Well then you've got snot on your gun when his nose explodes, while you've still managed to make noise. Thank you SO MUCH for putting that image in my head.

I always think it amusing that silencers on most weapons IRL don't really silence the weapon that much because the bullets are still super sonic.

Silencers are often used to make it harder to know where the shot came from, not to mask the sound 100%. It is also true that a silencer when used even with subsonic ammo still does not stop all the sound.

But I sometimes think of Brikwars as the action movies of War Games. So in that case even unrealistic things could work if you want them to. :D

So if you want to say a silencer does mask all the sound so be it.

Hobo, I think you're thinking of suppressors. they're designed to mask the muzzle flash, and, subsequently, make it harder to pinpoint the location of the shot. silencers are made to silence weapons. (I'm not an expert on this stuff, so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry)

"silencers" (which, as I understand it, are the same thing as supressors) reduce the "BANG!!!" to more of a "pff!"

It also reduces/eliminates muzzle flash. It does both of these things by redirecting the gases and allowing them to disperse before exiting the barrel. That's why a corpse wouldn't silence a gun, because it requires detailed engineering.

Then again, this is Brikwars. :D

Thus my point. Science bends to our will in this game. Reality warps. This is not the "Universe" it is the Brikverse.

Then in the negaverse they must have loudners that make firing a gun sound like a thousand women being snuggled and on fire.
Just a thought :)
