Got the gloves now, finished the boots, and did a lot of work on the helmet.

I got into the con scene this April at Anime Central in Illinois, and I mostly do Dave Strider from Homestuck. Cosplay is pretty awesome when it allows me to take cheesy 80s action poses like this with my girlfriend.

Wait, which one is you and which is your girlfriend?

I only have a vague idea of how, but I think I somehow saw Akira, specifically the "Cancer-babyman scene", when I was like four...

Could be worse; you could've watched Legend of the Overfiend. I know people who did, the guy developed nihongophobia for the rest of his life.

Yeah I don't think my cousins husband would have a Hentai on while nearly her entire family is over at their house...

A fear of the Japanese language?

Not bad but I do have a ton of work left, like I'm not even half way.

Did more work on the helmet today. It's coming along, but I'm worried it won't look perfect in the end. :( Basically I took a roller derby helmet of mine and converted it. This one was retired because I got a concussion while wearing it like 5 months ago. D: Anyway, I plugged the air-holes with an epoxy resin thing, then waited for it to dry and sanded it down. Unfortunately I didn't sand it well enough because when I sprayed the first coat of black you could totally tell areas I had worked on vs areas I had not touched. I gave it a second coat of black and now a first coat of silver. I'll do another coat of silver, then I'll tape the middle section off so I can spray it black. After the black is applied I'll spray the whole thing with a clear coat.

Since it has 3 layers on it now I can see that the areas I worked on are no longer as obvious, but even after the final two you'll still be able to tell that it was like a home-made job.

Nihon (or nippon) means Japan, Nihongo means the Japanese language. Go is a language. So for example Furansu-go is France language or French language aka French.

I remember a bunch of weeaboos trying to figure out what Ninjago meant. Because it's clearly not 忍者語 (language of ninjas? Not a word) and it's clearly just Ninja, go! like a command for them to spin in circles and turn into rainbow tornadoes.
