Close. In World War One we had to declare war on anyone Britain declared war on, like the Boer War for example. However, Canada was still a democracy and we elected our own Prime Ministers. These Prime Ministers were similiar to American presidents, however Britain was in charge of our foreign affairs, and our Supreme Court was in Britain too.

The majority of Canada was in favour of the war, the minority being made up of hardcore feminists and Quebecois extremists.

As a reward for our service, Canada was given full independence. When Britain declared war on Germany in WWII, the Canadian Parliament in a landslide voted to declare war on Germany as well.

The difference between students in America, Canada and the rest of the world is that American kids learn history and forget about it right away. Canadians and everyone else learn history and remember it. The only real exception is the second World War because we (Americans) did well and for some reason that gives us a right to be cocky even though the war ended a very long time ago.

Ahh, the Finnish military. In most of it's elements, it greatly resembles the Russian/Soviet one (albeit with most of the doctrine scaled away from tanks jets etc, and more toward artillery, SAMs, and so on due to being a smaller country.

After 1907, Canada became a dominion. We are completly indepedant since the end of the 40's, around 1948 I think.
