Kaiju blood is highly toxic.

Pacific Rim Wiki wrote:"Kaiju Blue" is the blood of Kaiju. It is highly toxic to the Earth as well as humans. It instantly poisons the land it falls on, it also stains anything, from human skin, earth, and even keratin. If Kaiju Blue is inhaled, the victim will begin to cough up a blue vapor.

This is also why most weapons used by Jaegers are based on Bludgeoning or Cauterizing the Kaiju. Bunker busters would probably be okay as a last resort though.

Natalya wrote:Yeah so I've been thinking about this. If conventional weapons just aren't strong enough because of the size of the Kaiju, and they can't use nukes because of fallout and stuff, why don't they just use bunker-busting bombs? I mean, seriously. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthquake_bomb Something like that. Except more modern.

Because then we wouldn't get a movie about giant robots fighting giant monsters...

There were soldiers called Jaegers in the Prussian armies as early as the 18th century.

Wondering why they're not just blowing up the Kaiju is like wondering why you would try to infiltrate a hijacked oil tanker instead of simply blowing it up. Yeah it's easier, but the pollution is going to have a backlash from environmentalists that's worse than the Kaiju.

If you really want to 'logic rip' on this movie about giant creatures coming from the sea ask yourself why humanity hasn't destroyed each other using giant robots yet if they really had access to that technology, or something.

Btw, check how similar the pilot suits are to Sabre Enforcer armour: http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/ ... 5en1jj.jpg

I want to build one of those for the Shovel Brigades to use as a transport. Bagger 288 vs. Killdozer will be awesome.

Alright. If Colette does finish making a minifig scale (but not too big) Bagger 288, I will attempt to buy the parts for it.

Otherwise my next projects are the Panzer Johann, Silvadream and a buildup of Britannians.

Some of the Power Miners sets would be useful for a practical, smaller, real-life version.

Yeah a bunker buster would be a pretty excellent way to throw kaiju blood on everything in a several mile radius.

The given reason that nations never went to war with the Jaegers is because they had bigger fish to fry, literally. Also:
Spoiler: show
By the time the war ends, all jaegers are destroyed, since the last one self-destructs

Once the Kaiju are dead, it would still take considerable cooperation between nations to actually construct another Jaeger. So unless there was a massive alliance, no single nation could produce one on their own without draining their resources.

I dunno, if every nation had enough money and steel left to build a giant fucking wall, I would think they have enough for a Jaeger.

Jaegers seemed less expensive than the wall.

Walls don't need weapons or nuclear reactors or testing or moving parts or specialized labor or pilot training or electricity or...

They need massive amounts of labour and raw materials with a mining and resource refining infrastructure capable of supplying the operation. Also, skilled welders and stuff.

Also the walls need to be around the Pacific Ocean. That's a lot of metal.

Which is still a lower bill than a massive robot with the highest technology possible. It's all of that PLUS the super-duper extra skilled labor, PLUS expensive robot parts
