terror and magnificence

Postby lorbaat » Mon Sep 02, 2013 6:44 pm

My favorite architect is Nicholas Hawksmoor, who designed six of London's churches (perhaps his most recognizable work was the addition of the jackal-ear towers to Westminster Abbey). He believed that buildings should inspire terror and magnificence, and project power through the neighborhoods they occupy, having a palpable effect on the lives of those who live and work near them.

Apparently whoever designed this heap thought the same thing:

Shitty British cars being ruined? no loss to the world...

Reminds me of some building that was in Chicago or Detroit or some place, that because of it's construction and materials, it was basically cooking part of the ground beneath it like ants under a magnifying glass.

Not sure why people insist on curvy buildings, straight ones work just as well. Having said that, castles are definitely the superior.

That poor Jag, although I want to call this an insurance job that didn't go right, I'm not going to say the owner is untrustworthy just that he owns a Jag.

Ah yes, I remember that episode, although it hasn't been on Dave in a while.
