Stupid Quad tricks
So last week I had this Idea to load up an image, read the pixel colors, make a bunch of quads and set up vertex colors from the pixels.
Each quad would be one pixel.
The PixelQuad thing is on the left.
A normal box with the original 40x40 pixel icon of a house is textured with point filtering on the right.
Both are like 3 meters high.
The PixelQuad has smooth edges around the pixel boundaries, the texture on the right is all jaggy.
But why Tzan?
Well I was thinking that if I put a simple bitmap font into the game, players could make signs, small or large that have any text they want on them and the edges wouldnt be a mess.
If the sign is small or at a distance the jaggies don't matter so much.
