That's a pretty sweet gatling gun on the train. Oops, Lego.

Re: 2013 SETS THREAD
Sneak peek of the new castle sets. I hope you put your good eye in.
I'm told there will be blue/gray colour schemed Lion knights and Red / Black colour schemed Dragon knights. That sounds to me like something that will work together great with Crownies and Shadow Knights respectively if you already have them. Which I do!
At first glance the sets look pretty simplistic, but containing a lot of good parts.

Dragon Mountain? Gonna get it!
I am relieved we still get some castle stuff considering Lego will milk the LotR license for a few years to come. (Thank god there is no expanded universe!)

Also they are reusing the '07 dragon, and we're getting another evil wizard. So bought.

Actually, Tolkien wrote some other books, mostly stuff that happened before the Hobbit.Apollyon wrote:(Thank god there is no expanded universe!)

I was hoping for more Dragon and less Mountain.

Yeah, its called the Sillmarion or something; basically tells the story of how everything in LOTR and the hobbit came to be, and also tells about Sauron's master, Morgoth, who is freaking awesome.Apollyon wrote:Really? Re: 2013 SETS THREAD
There are more, I think one of them is about the war for the ring and another one os about Tom Bombadildo, try goolging "what books did Tolkien write" or something like that.Ben-Jammin wrote:Yeah, its called the Sillmarion or something; basically tells the story of how everything in LOTR and the hobbit came to be, and also tells about Sauron's master, Morgoth, who is freaking awesome.Apollyon wrote:Really? Re: 2013 SETS THREAD
Silmarrilion is about the First and Second age I think. The first worlds, Morgoth and the rest of the Vaiar all the way through to Middle Earth and the creations of the rings and even the Witch King's war in Angmar anyway. At least I think so. I should know because I read it, but I get the history lesson at the end of Lord of the Rings about all the different stewards of Gondor mixed up with the Silmarrilion sometimes. It's written like a history book though, but still quite enjoyable to read.
Then there's the Sons of Hurin. I don't really know what that one's about anymore.
I haven't read it, but I heard the Tom Bombadildo book is just a collection of poems / crap and d a p p e r stuff like the stuff when they're in Tom Bombadildo's forest of faggetry. Worst part of the book that.
Don't read the Norse Mythology one. It's terrible. Verses and verses and verses and you don't have any idea what's going on. As much as I like Tolkien, I think a lot of stuff written by him has been released that he would have rather have not seen released, or still deemed unfinished. The Silmarrilion is still worth reading though.

Re: 2013 SETS THREAD
Quite a bit of it was never meant for release. It was his own notes about the world he had created.

Re: 2013 SETS THREAD
Brickset and FBTB has some set descriptions, sadly no pics. The only thing I found noteworthy is that the smallest castle set will have FOUR minifigs, 2 good guys and 2 bad guys. Instant armybuilder box or what, need to get 3 of them at least.
