The Fourth Horseman's Galactic Corporate Revolution
okay. eventually i will be taking pictures of all of my creations and figure types that frequent themselves to my battles followed with brief stats (general list of armaments and abilities, not damage dealt or size ratings).
i'm more or less done, but the bulk of my photos won't be coming in until i get my legos back from leaving them at my friend's house to play brikwars.
until the first wave of updates, i present you with the history of my universe.
The year is 105 AC (after conquest). Through a long series of bloody galactic wars, the galaxy was finally contained under the rule of a single entity: the Greater Terran Empire. The empire brought itself about promising peace and prosperity: a utopia for all systems. naturally, few systems gave up their power easily. Once the wars were finally over, The Greater Terran Empire began gradually granting liberties to star systems, providing supplies for large systems in ways never dreamed possible, and colonizing worlds thought to be completely inhospitable beforehand. This entire organization renamed itself the Galactic Union (GU). But there are those left in the dust.
Though the galaxy was prospering economically, smaller and non-human systems began to suffer. unable to deal with the metropolis worlds that drained them of resources, they began to wither away. Furthermore, large corporations were suddenly hit with so many restrictions and rules that it was nearly impossible to make a profit. Enter the Braintrust Corporation.
Braintrust worked with advanced weapons production and telekinetic research. In a world without wars and GU crackdown space-pirates, weapon sales were lower than ever before for all weapons producers. On top of this, telekinetic research was labeled as inhumane, cutting into Braintrust's ability to exist.
But sitting on top of a pile of weapons gives a man a certain precedence in speech. Ni Ujraak, the Mir-chun (species) head of braintrust got together with other struggling yet powerful corporations (Octan, Robotech co., etc.) to grab the weapons they already produce and take the fight to the GU to finally end it once and for all. With a wave of bombs and stomping of boots, entire worlds were either allied with or simply conquered and turned over to the Galactic Corporate Alliance (GCA). Soon afterwards, the GU mobilized the remenants of a hundred-year-old army that once siezed an entire galaxy to take back the worlds turned by the GCA. The Galactic Corporate Revolution had begun.
leave comments now if you feel the need to make any. i'll follow up later with a brief analysis of both armies, followed by pictures of individual units. and yes, every brikwar i have corresponds somehow to this universe.

I wonder what your units look like, and thanks for the soft background fluff.
Looking for Vancouver Island players: http://www.brikwars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1194

ok, i found some old pictures on brickshelf. It's only two sets, the juggernaut tank and a partial list of droid infantry, but it's what i've got so far.
GALACTIC UNION (GU) DETAIL:
the galactic union is basically the governing force of the universe. all political decisions are made through a balance of powers system (judicial executive blah blah blah), but is mostly headed by The Emporate. He, for all intents and purposes, is the galactic union. When the Revolution started, he thought that it would blow over quickly and that minimal effort needed to be applied to quell the rebellion. merely hours after giving that speech, his cruiser was destroyed en route to a stronghold, and through sheer luck his brain was saved and placed into a mechanical body. Now filled with hatred and vengance, The Emporate has trained himself in the arts of combat and takes to the field himself to crush the GCA scum once and for all.
GU units are mostly droid operated or droids themselves, due to a public persona wishing for as few sentient fatalities as possible. nonetheless, a few live soldiers make it to the field anyways, making up about 25% of the fighting force. However, this fighting force is almost exclusively human, with the other species cast aside in the chaos of a nearly entirely human-ruled galaxy. GU technology is generally lower technology than the Corporate Alliance's weapons, but are much more perfected and sleek, not to mention more available in sheer numbers. their limit is that since the galaxy has been at peace for so many years, production facilities are few and far between.
from now on, all units posted will be GU until i finish them off.

First off, i'm showing off the DHT-Juggernaut.
This Droid Heavy Tank has incredibly an thick armor hull, and is armed with two large gattling guns (just bigger miniguns) and a total of 8 missiles (i use the studs on the red forward-facing wheels to represent missiles) that rotate into firing position.
It's crew is one droid pilot, and an optional gunner that fires from the top hatch. This particular Juggernaut has a droid armed with vertical-fire missiles mostly used for anti-air purposes (the Juggernaut has no anti-air capability on it's own). Juggernaut pilots are standard Tank Droids, which are the Gray, boxy droid standing on the side. Tank Droids double as pilots and mechanix, but must exit the vehicle to make repairs. Their small size is perfect for fitting non-conventional cargo into the Juggernaut, such as a one-man APC. in case of emergency, a juggernaut tank has controls for a human pilot to operate if necessary.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES: yes, i know the colors are funny. i made this tank a long time ago, before i organized all my colors, but it's worn a little hole in my heart from the moment i built it. preferably, it'd be black, white, and blue. Also, i'd prefer having actual treads rather than crappy ass plane wheels, but most of the good wheels got used up making "treads" for a half-track.

neither, which is great. i tried very hard to make it impossible to determine who the good guys are from the bad guys! Yes the GCU are arrogant humans who conquered the galaxy through warfare, but they're doing a DAMN good job doing it (mostly). Yet the GCA are just trying to get by with what little business they have left, and see it necessary to make war to get what they want, even if a few billion civilians have to die.Carrnevil9 wrote:Sounds a little Command and Conquer-y, not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm curious to which side you're partial towards though.

and you all thought i forgot about this. actually, i just discovered the "detail" button on my camera, and whatnot. most of my armies are STILL at my friend's house, but those should be coming home soon. ish.
anyways, here's the LDAF-Nightengale. it's a tiny, frail little light fighter plane, capable of both space and atmospheric combat. meant to be deployed in high numbers, it's armaments are two small blaster cannons on each side (the brown sticks on the underbelly), and a rotating, turret-mounted cannon. it's tiny body leaves no room for a human pilot, and instead follows the Galactic Union trend of placing droid brains inside vehicles, as perma-pilots. to human scale, the entire fuselage would be about 5 feet tall, and somewhere around 20 to 30 feet long. tiny for a flying vehicle.

the GU, while maintaining a primarily space-borne navy, still keeps a healthy oceanic fleet of vehicles, mainly due to the fact that the majority of colonized planets (and especially the older ones) are rife with water, including several completely oceanic worlds. the result is the strongest oceanic military in the galaxy.
one of the heralds of the GU's might and efficiency is the PTB-Krakken Patrol boat. don't let the name fool you: this patrol boat is a ruthless killing machine, capable of sinking enemy ships in a single blow from it's giant freaking gun from miles away. to take care of closer targets, cannons defuse the situation, and a minigun should deter any swimmers.
I actually really like how the "working" engine turned out. it looks geary, and it ACTUALLY turns! the gun is also something i can't get over - it was modeled after a german Flak-88, and has folding shields. I actually really like this: it gives the option of providing more or less cover from sides and front, while providing a bigger or larger target to the enemy.
something else i played around with is experimental ammunition. this ship's smaller cannons can fire two types: the first is a magnetotronic manipulator. it fires at a target, and if it successfully hits, no damage is done. instead, the player can push or pull the target up to 5" away or towards the gun that fired it, once every turn. the other ammunition this uses is tha diamond flechette shot. in addition to a normal cannon shot, 2d6 damage's worth of shattered, high-velocity crystals cut through everything caught in a two finger cone, within 10". each of these shots must be manually loaded into the chamber.
as for the crew, there's 4 minifigs on board: a technician who pilots the thing, a gunner who fires the guns, a lieutenant who helps aim the guns and give orders, and a Dark-Ops captain. the lieutenant can double the skill of a minifig who is targeting something with a siege weapon if the lieutenant has a clear line of sight and can use his bugle. the dark-ops captain is a member of the GU's secret dark-ops program, which is deployed in high-risk battles on any terrain.
