What's a g old source of treads at a good price? The new tank droids only have 1/3 of the amount that I'd like each

This guy who makes tank kits is looking to manufacture lego compatible ABS treads. I think it's called world war brick.

I think you mean this guy, as silver said, he's the same one as sells all those "homegrown" WWII lego kits.
His Flickr stream; http://www.flickr.com/photos/screamingforvengeance/

p.s- Knowing the nature of these custom pieces, you might find it cheaper to get some traditional lego treads from ebay, I remember seeing some selling quite cheaply there.

Those tracks are a spot expensive.
Ebay and Bricklink are a good source that i've used in the past.

I have a lot of these;
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=57518 (£0.10pp)
from technic sets, they are a bit big for all but the largest vehicles though.

These hit the sweet spot for me;
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3873 (£0.07pp)
but only have a few

these are a bit thin but can be doubled up to good effect; (£0.05pp)
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3711
[prices are assed as the lowest price with decent stocks, prices vary by colour]

I'm tempted to buy a bunch of tracks and get back into building, make some tanks or something.

I was fishing around in my main Lego collection and I came across an unopened Parts Service Pack of links.

So I guess the answer to where to get treads is "in my old Lego."

My old collection is like the gift that keeps on giving.

Funnily enough I started another thread about treads here about http://www.altbricks.com tank treads:

They do look interesting for larger tanks...

Tahthing, quoting prices in Sterling, now this is a worrying development.

But he is completely right, bricklink is the only place to get any amount of technic treads at a reasonable price. Unless you have to pay some import hefty on them, do look at other vendors that ship internationally, I got mine from Germany for cheaper than the UK vendors would do them for, even across the channel shipping was negligible.

In the UK, if it works out at under £45 you do not pay import duties for them.

If it is bought in the EU you do not pay import duties for them at all, as you would have paid VAT in the country of origin. As we currently have one of the highest rates of VAT (20%) in the EU, this can work out advantageously for us Brits.

So £15 worth of tracks ($20) wouldn't incur me any import duties from Asia.
