Gladiator is from 2000. I guess I didn't realize that that's fairly recent.

Maybe not if you're a yung'un. Anyway, a year later, 9/11 happened, and we're still fighting the same war in Afghanistan. So yeah, part of our current Millennial era. Heck, The Matrix came out in '99, and no one is calling that film "old".

It's not an "oldie" by any measure. You notice I didn't reference "Cleopatra" or "Ben Hur"

Human perception of time speeds up with age. For example, the fall of communism and the collapse of the USSR (1991) is still "not that long ago" in my memory, because I was there, living in Russia at the time.

It really makes sense when you think about it both mathematically and in terms of anecdotal evidence. When you were little (and for all I know, you still are), summer seemed to last forever, and time-outs or grounding felt like a prison sentence. As you get older, you start to notice that it seems like you just don't have as much time as you used to. And then you hear old people talk about decades going by as if they were weekends.

When you're 20 years old, a year is 1/20th of your life. When you turn 40, that same year is now only 1/40th of your life.

Anyway, "recentness" is relative to age, and we're digressing way off topic.

Three more hobbit sets have leaked:

http://brickset.com/sets?query=79015-79017

They all look rubbish (not a surprise). I dig the witch king crown though, might just pick up the box for that, and the free skellington.

EDIT: by the behest of TLG, the pictures have been removed.

It has to be the GTC axes. But I think sigfig has a boner for the vast amounts of sand green.

There's plenty of nice gold elements too. I bet it's at least 100 US dollars, though.

The really nice thing (and the thing that makes the set so expensive) is Smaug's wings. Those aren't just made to look soft, they are soft. AND they fold up. For real.

If you don't want the dragon (I'm looking at you Silent), just wait for it to show up on Bricklink without the figures. You'll very likely be able to get it for half price, maybe even less.

Perfect set to build a Dwarf Fortress around. Is this it for the Hobbit/ LOTR stuff?

Yup!

Also we got some minecraft set pics.

I'd be all over these for getting earth tones in bulk, but the license will likely bump their price.

I agree with the guy in the comments that those sets look ridiculous. You'd be better off buying those parts separately.
