Depends how big your ship is!?

Plenty on bricklink if you look hard enough. Plus TLC have already done most of the hard work for you- almost every 90's era big space set had any number of detachable pods/ships that could serve. See every Blacktron II set!

One I came across a while back and stole (from who I forget), though not nearly as small as the name suggests is the 'microfighter':

I think you're probably looking for something like:

Edit:
I also assumed there you meant space ship, although in hindsight you may well be talking about a carrier in which case see this guy:

There's no one mass production fighter that works for everybody. I could send you a set of instructions, and you could reply with "won't work, I only have one of that piece". Go through your collection and find out which canopy, wing, engine, and weapon parts you have the most of, then connect all of those different parts together using relatively common pieces. If you have to make slight changes to one or two fighters (e.g. use a different wing or canopy), you can just say that they're specialized ships like bombers or command fighters.

Mass-production fighters sure would be handy.

If you want compact ships, and a lot of them, don't worry about making them to fit a minifig. You can just say they're remote controlled, or are self-navigating or something. This way, you can build small, sleek ships to go along side your bigger space craft

Okay, usually I can get most of what james+burgundy is trying to say, but that is way over my head...
