:son: at the duration at which sets last in Belgian stores. They had the Fierce Flyer and Fire Mech sets two weeks back, and now they're already gone... This means they either don't refill the racks, or some asshole is going around collecting all these sets to resell them later... Belgian stores only seem interested in selling the large sets and when it comes to smaller ones, the ridiculously overpriced licensed ones.

I did get:

It's a really cool mech. I've already made some minor adjustments, most importantly I think I should make the arms a little bit longer. The Samurai X (*cough* Rurouni Kenshin *cough*) fig is great, though I don't care too much about the two little guys or their weapons, the black one with the ridiculous neck-less head in particular. Oh well, I suppose they'll make nice aliums.

9448. I could be wrong, but it seems to have more parts than other sets with similar prices (like the Kingdoms cart attack or the Uruk Hai Army set).

This Lego Ninjago Lizaru 9557 looks kinda neat: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lego-Ninjago-95 ... hu_m_13_dp

Get ten of them and one would have two Amazonian units of snake-men for Pekab's Amazonia continent...

I wouldn't mind having an army of beastmen (so I could make Fantasy General units, of course), but that's too expensive for me.

Lego should do packs of 5 minifigs in set for £9 to £12 so people can build up forces / characters / extras quickly and easily.

Yo Stubby, can you run that idea by your bosses, please?

Well, the Kingdoms line had battle packs (which are now ridiculously overpriced on Bricklink), and the new Castle line has a nice little set with 4 figs and enough useful parts to make it useful for more than just the figs.

Image

I hope this one will max out at 13 euros, but it's probably going to be 15-16, at least I fear it will.

SW has a lot of battle packs but because of the license they are still pretty steep - 17 euros for a pack with 4 minifigs here.

If you want just the figs, I built a lot my armies by buying minifig parts separately... If you make units in large enough amounts and you take some time to figure out the best offer (the fewer orders you need to place to get there, the fewer shipment costs you'll have to pay) I think this can definitely turn out to be cheaper than buying full figs / sets.

Most figs are expensive, but sometimes you can also find figs from random old themes really cheap... I just got 7 Blacktrons for and 6 M-Trons for less than 1.50 euros each. Putting together some of Warhead's Terrorkhan made me realize just how cheap these guys were, and they look cool, too.

If you want to save some money, you could by blank torsos (generally they're cheaper) and custom decal them. It works for me and also helps to give your army that 'unique' feel:

The bottom line is to plan ahead and to start out by buying the things you need the most of at the cheapest price, while avoiding having to place one order to get 1 part you need. The more fancy stuff like epaulettes and capes you want, of course, the more expensive it's gonna be. You don't need to have a huge army to have a good fight though.

Lol I just noticed, it even has the fat wobbly guy. Looks like one day Lego is going to do literally every single SW character.

I got my latest bricklink order, too bad it went to my home address and I can't open it until Saturday.

Only about a hundred times over the past decade. One of those pitches ended up turning into the collectible Minifigures line, for instance.

But really, we do battle packs all the time: http://www.brickpicker.com/index.php/ev ... tment_buck

The best part about him is his double-sided face; on the other side he's all sad with a tear on the side.

I got my latest weapons order via minifigforlife, so Squad 3 are now fully kitted up and armed:

Note: Viktoria already had her snipers rifle from the Spy Weapons kit I got earlier.

It took me a while to figure out that was a sniper rifle and not some kind of weird claymorebokken. You've got the most important parts of minifig photography down - lighting and focus - but positioning the weapons edge-on is hurting this one.
