Castle or space?

Postby Cakeman » Thu Apr 20, 2017 12:31 pm

I'm in need of some advice for my next project. Should it be a spaceship to get my Halcyons off planet, or a castle for some crocodile shenanigans? I'll let the first three answers guide me.

It is a difficult question, for it is written in the ancient briks as such:

And the Dread Pirate 2x2 said "Let there be Space! And let there also be Castle, and let Space and Castle be the greatest of the themes! Let each of them bear Minifigs, so that one day brave Heroes will arise that they may wage glorious battle on the Baseplates that I have made!" And it was so.

A choice between the greatest themes may in fact be the greatest choice.  :saucy:

Thanks for the quick feedback all! Ofcourse it's hard to chose, as Natalya pointed out - it's the two greatest themes! But.. can there be a fusion? I already started on a hull

yesterday (started as in just lay out the general shape) but the thought of getting the Crocs into space instead is not letting go! A... a flying castle. I'm imagining the crocs fighting to get to a holy mountain, to find it's an ancient croc spacecastle, and then they take off. Ok so I have some ideas then, let's see if I can make something out of it.

Nah that's the problem, it was planned to be a regular spaceship for another faction. Don't the crocs need something different?

The ship can be a junk ship, just pieces of scrap metal, engines and guns zip-tied together!  These crocs could be like galactic shit-disturbers, they'll just raid and board ships, eat the crew and steal whatever they think is useful!

The ship that looked like a crocodile made of scrap metal would be awesome

So going for that scrap metal look (and because black is a color I normally just have lying around) I decided to go for mainly black, with green and red accents (mostly to be added later on). I built with a technic base, slightly new to me who mostly have used plates and bricks.

It's surprisingly stable. I'm thinking some kind of castley top structure, and engines back or sides. I wish I could just add another module in the back for a longer ship/scrap floating base. Gun turrets are prepared, and the crocodile mouth will house some kind of large gun.

Gun platforms added on the sides. It definitely needs to be longer. Sides can be plated up later. Sadly, I'll be working out of town next week so no further building, which is a shame. But the croc scrap ship/base is happening!

If your piece selection could allow it, you could add modules in any direction, just to show it's mass.  Looking good so far!  Excited to see it become a heap of sheet metal hurtling through the brikverse raiding trade routes!
