Too bad we will never get a military theme

I think Star Wars and Indiana Jones' not-nazis, as well as some other licensed themes, should do for now. Aside from that, I'm not sure how well conventional military vehicles would even work as Lego sets, though.
I'm entirely ignoring TLG's pseudo-pacifist stance on things and mostly refer to playability, which would be reduced to moving tracks and the main cannon's shooting function at best. Even if Lego did some tanks and tank-like vehicles in the past, they look way different from modern or historic battle tanks:

Plus, conventional designs look rather unexciting and unappealing to most kids, given that not all of them are history or military nuts.

I'm not even sure if half the tanks that lego makes as official sets are actually tanks. The first one is the odd Triangle-shaped car, and the second is a starfighter cockpit on suspension. The only real features they share with modern tanks are tons of guns and treads.  :???:

That's the point I guess. Kids aren't  supposed to play with boring box-shaped tanks but with all these rad weirdly-shaped non-tanks that are proof to the designers creativity.

If the next big marvel movie had a too prominent to pass on fight scene with a tank, then we'd get a tank. A straight up military theme would never happen.

"Look Mommy! An Apache Gunship! I want one so I play kill the reporters and children!"

Sounds awesome for Brikwars. Not for a public image.

That would be amazing, though.

I realize people are  going to flame me for this, but I don't care. I actually like the City sets. Mind you, I also do Lego trains, so I'm kind of biased. The Jungle Explorer sets are new, and kind of awesome. Yeah, they keep making new Police and Fire sets, but they're all DIFFERENT/same (as in, the same, but still DIFFERENT). While the sets are the same, they have been giving us some new ideas. A Bank came with one of the Police sets, for example. The City Transport sets are nice, too. A bus stop and magazine stand? That's new. I loved the older city street sets they made, and would like to see more generic buildings in that line. Y'know, apartment buildings, houses, basic cafe/restaurant/business buildings. We used to have more of those. Gas stations, motorcycle/bicycle/car repair/sales shops, pizza shops... How about a strip mall? A park? Library might be boring, but would still fit...

Honestly, upon reflection we might not need REAL Generic themes, just... slightly less... commercialized ones? Like spin-off kind of things? I dunno. Wouldn't be too hard to go the Knight's Kingdom route but go more "Game of Thrones," for lack of a better word. Give us Noble Houses for Castle, perhaps? Kids might like the idea of trying to set House Lionclaw against House Darkwolf or House, well, to go classic, Black Falcon...

TLG is a bunch of heliphobic pricks who need to check their cisvechicle privilege. If kids in wheelchairs can see themselves in a lego set, why can't helisexual kids feel they are represented too?

Then build your own heliboi if you feel underrepresented. TLG can't provide you with sets for all of your fetishes, after all.

I did some database scrounging for fun and it turns out recently we've been getting roughly 20 helis or heli-like models per year. It's been a running joke amongst people keeping up with city, considering even the undersea sub-range (Ha) couldn't get away with not having at least one dedicated heli set in its roster.

But they're always portrayed in an urban or nonviolent role, never as gunships or anything, kinda like how 90% of action heroes are male. I wanna see an attack helicopter set. Also, does anyone know if we've gotten a fabulous minifig yet?

US folks already got a Hind Attack Helicopter like about a decade ago. That should suffice.

How appropriate that we are having this discussion today, as today happens to be World Helicopter Day (I'm not shitting you).
