I mean I guess I could dig up the 2001 weapon rules and re-do them all but everything else should be 2005. But I did try to derive these things from the weapons section in the Special Creations chapter so they more or less make sense, with the exception of rapid-fire for which I just kind-of winged it.
Yea, that's kind of how I do it, but I wanted them to be more realistic while still sticking to a size 3 weapon in chapter 7 as a tank and the short-range weapons in chapter 3 as a pistol.
So when I play my weapons have this for range:
Pistol/Machine Gun - 6"
Assault Rifle - 8"
Heavy Machine Gun - 9"
Rifle/Rocket Launcher - 10"
Long-Range Rifle - 12"
Mortar Cannon/Tank Cannon - 18"
I used the actual rules and based it around there. I figured that if Rayhawk posted those ranges, it must be for good reason and they should at least be AROUND there, so that's what I did.
I used these to customize around long- and short-range weapons:
+1CP for +2 damage
+1CP for an extra 4 inches to range
-1CP for +1 use rating
