Nobody's arguing about whether or not governments do this, that's been the official forum position since long before you showed up.

The discussion in this thread, however, has always only been about the fact that you feel entitled to keep calling the legitimate suffering of actual people "imaginary problems" just because they don't happen to affect you personally. Please feel free to continue thinking everyone else is stupid and you're the only smart one though.

Next you'll object to calling water wet and fire warm, I'm not sure the obnoxious thing was a big secret.

Or I guess if you wanted to keep it topical, you can go ahead and object to the shocking revelation that the government and media manipulate us, which is just about as stupidly obvious.

Another one of the classic hallmarks of privilege, as long as we're on the subject:

Oh, we're all obnoxious here, but calling you obnoxious because you're not agreeing with him is lame.

God forbid anyone around here do something lame. If I started banning people for being lame then there'd be no one left.*

* Disclaimer 1: Unless I did it in the wrong order and banned myself first, then you'd all still be here and the joke would be on me.**

** Disclaimer 2: And by the joke would be on me what I really mean is that the joke would be on you, since you'd all be stuck with each other without my illuminating*** presence.

*** Disclaimer 3: Actual illumination not included. In this instance "illuminating" should be understood to mean "extremely obnoxious"

Can we change his rank title? Banning may be just for a day, but a rank change stays with you until you do something even stupider!

Bragallot wrote:...actual problems like being extortionated and exploited by rich companies, banks and a wasteful government Affect people who aren't as privileged as me at a stupendously higher rate due to already being poor, marginalized, and otherwise counted as sub-human, I wonder... I can't seriously be this stupid.
Look, I get that you think there are "bigger" problems affecting the world because they're affecting you as well. But do you get that even within your own argument how much of a luxury it is to still be able to order shit off of bricklink while such issues stop other people from buying food for the night?

Just because a problem isn't within your immediate cushioned sphere of existence, doesn't make it imaginary. There are many many many things which affect people who aren't you (imagine that!). Even the things that DO affect you do so on such a comparatively miniscule level. People telling you so is not just so they can distract you from "real" issues, but so that you're aware of how even more fucked up the world actually is to people who aren't you. To ignore that is to perpetuate the system.

But please! Preserve the status quo! It's hilarious how you think ignoring problems in the world will turn you into "a mindless sheep," because so far all I hear is "Baaaaa"

Every time I start considering a new one, the "dude who does rear assault" one wins.
