The Humanist

This is a poem I wrote in about 30 minutes. I'm not good at writing poetry, so I thought it came out rather well all things considered.

Lights of bright neon are rushing by
The car flies past them in the sky
A future which left humanity behind
And those who cling few and hard to find

Steel men walk the streets throughout
Emotions are something they do without
The live alone in masses, selfish and cold
Humanity their mind but no longer their soul

In this car sits a man who still lives
One of the few who still knows what life is
Mocked in public, hunted in the dark
Those who hunt him still claim that they aren’t

The metal men don’t kill in the day
Part of them refuses to let morality slip away
But their true nature shows when the sun daily falls
And they claim to know nothing, when they know it all

A shadowy war is fought on the streets
Between those made of metal and those made of meat
Tonight he passes an alley and a silhouette
And a metallic glimmer later, his mind is all set

Tonight the robots plan to take another life
To stalk their next victim to fall under knife
One less man is one more machine
Through a process which should never have to be seen

But tonight will be different, the man proclaims
And he’ll be known, no longer a man without name
The alleyways are not a safe place to be
But to this would-be quarry, the man will grant safety

It sounds like renaissance-esque stuff, which is good in my opinion.

Go work on Archangel!

Sure I'm dribbling some concepts... right about now!...

One thing you probably know is that poetry doesn't always need to rhyme. Other than that, it's good.

I'm working on other stuff right now.

"Other stuff" may or may not include trying to look into a video design club at school for the sake of getting a bigger team.
