stubby wrote:What really stands out to me is your staging. For some reason it's hard to find comics artists nowadays who want to do anything other than dull two-heads-talking-against-a-flat-background frames, but even in the frames where you're not going into super detail it's clear that you're thinking about the 3D space the characters are inhabiting and being deliberate about how you place the viewpoint within that space. It's one of those things that you wouldn't think was a rare quality, but it is.

Thanks, I'm glad that the effort paid off!

Wow those hard blacks look so good, but I am not emotionally ready for that much darkness in my life.    I'll try the bold outlines for next week, though.

It's great to have another Lego artist on here. Keep experimenting!  :omnom:

I'll echo what everyone else said, and say that these are really nice, especially for a first endeavour. One small detail I like is the way you do the episode numbers. I'm not sure if it's taken directly from somewhere, but it's very simple and stylish.

I do have one suggestion, specifically for the second comic:

I think it would look really good if the spaceship between the first and second panels actually came out in front of the panel divider. I think it looks a little bit awkward being split right down the middle like that, especially since it covers up most of the pilot and cuts into the cockpit, which is a big focal point for spaceships. I also think it would add some depth to the scene by creating the illusion of a foreground and background, and really accentuate the sheer scale of the scene compared to the single-panel vignettes of the other strips. It's a pretty epic scene for a four-panel strip, and it reminds me a lot of the Spaceman Spiff segments from Calvin & Hobbes.

Thanks!  I really like that idea, too.  I will definitely try it in the future.

+1 for Spaceman Spiff!
