I'm not exactly a fan of metal either, but I enjoy an occasional fast and energetic metal song.

i really hate arch-enemy <_<. death growls are incredibly annoying.

in fact, i generally have no taste for death metal as a genre. same as black metal. good ol heavy metal's where it's at for me.

When I need fast, energetic music, I have a few bands I listen to, although I have no idea what genre they really are, and I usually refer to them as Punk-Rock or Hardcore. Take for example Thrice. I just refer to them as punk-rock, although they're apparently "experimental rock" (whatever the hell that means)

hm. i most agree with wikipedia's defenition of "post-hardcore", but i completely 100% acknowledge that this is a bullshit term.
