This is referred to as Compartment Syndrome! Basically, since I tore my femoral artery as well, my body decided that my leg was a lost cause and swelled up to cut off the bloodflow. The good news is that I didn't lose as much blood (even though I still lost a whopping 3 liters of it) as I probably would have if the leg hadn't swollen up, but the bad news is that I definitely would have lost my leg if they didn't slice me open and slap a wound-vac on me. Apparently, if this had happened to me a mere 10 years ago, I would have lost my leg for sure. And if it hadn't been for the ambulance showing up as fast as it did (seriously, it was about one minute), I prooooobably would have died.

If it was up to me I'd have them throw on a rocket launcher/flamethrower leg, but I guess having a foot is cool too.

I snapped my collar bone last year, it's a common injury but who else can say they broke it doing a commando roll? Also Gotta love Australia for being the only country that allows emergency use of a drug called the green whistle

550 or 1200? And which bone are you talking about, anyways?

After much deliberation, definitely the rocket knee. I could carry it around in public capped by a prosthetic shin and nobody would notice!

Wow holy crap, just saw the leg pics... how did you not die of an infection?

On a related note: surgery fucking sucks. Both times I got cut up by docs were absolutely horrible... healing takes so fucking long even for minor surgery like wisdom teeth removal. You'd think having your wisdom teeth out wouldn't be god-awful, but it was a terrible experience despite how minor the surgery was.
