Yep. Bishops look pretty cray in chess diagrams. At a small scale it makes them look distinct from the king.
Oh wow they're even Unicode characters.

And here's the fam:

Here's my full board. It will print at around 2.5 inches.
I'm thinking maybe I could make each symbol bigger in its box. Thoughts?

Perhaps try that, but if it looks cramped at all then what you've got is pretty fine. The only slightly trippy thing is the white borders around the pieces on the dfferent backgrounds, but there's not really a way around that. Although I suppose it's pretty challenging to find an original style for illustrating chess pieces, I applaud your effort to make a chess rulebook (I'll look forward to reading about en passant), perhaps you could get our own Mr. Rayhawk to do some pencil sketches for gameplay examples?

I would make them larger.
But make sure the white edge still leaves a bit of the diagonal black lines on the edges of black spaces.
The remaining black lines should be about the same as the size of the white border, minimum.

I've been drawing some fantasy maps following
this cool tutorial.
This is some sort of mining town in the mountains.

The arms are too long aren't they.
How long are arms?
ALso that left eye is cray but when I noticed it was too late.

I think the forearms are a bit too long. But yet again, her main figure is really long and her hands sit bellow the crotch, so it shouldn't be that far off.

If you're worried about proportions -- you're always going to have this problem as long as you keep fudging the body structure and using baggy coveralls to cover up for the fact. If you want to start getting this right, you've got to nail the fundamentals without relying on cheats and shortcuts. Draw the body first, learn to get the proportions right, then draw the coveralls over the top of it once things are nailed in place.
Once you've drilled an instinct for proper proportions, you can go back to skipping the construction step and everything will work fine as if by magic.

Are you implying that I do skip the construction step? I do it, but I don't know if it's worse that you can't tell. And other double negatives.
I should probably go out and draw real people and nudez and stuff like real artists do, I guess.

However, that only applies when you draw baggy clothing or something with volume that covers up the anatomy, right?

If its something you are moderately serious about and you have time, take a life drawing class.
I did 2 semesters, it helps alot.

Arms look good. Long lower torso. Chest and face are good.
