This is for a thing that will probably never happen.

Does anyone have tips for doing a simple walk cycle animation?

Also is this backwards?

Looks like she's leaning forwards in the profile views.

This is good enough quality that it could have been in any PC game in the 90s. But if you want to polish it up:

The head, the center of gravity, and the arch of the foot should all stack up vertically so she looks stable. The pelvis should be brought down a couple of pixels. Front view postures are rarely symmetrical unless you're drawing robots; add some contrapposto.

If you're looking for walking animations, I usually start by studying NES and SNES sprites.  Something like Castlevania Dracula X or Super Metroid might be worth looking at.

Moved head & hair back,  shoulders back, arms down, hips down.

Still looks like she's leaning a little bit, but at the risk of fucking up the whole thing you should probably leave it as is.

If you're going to put any serious thought into animation, I've heard this is a good book, although probably a little bit extreme for what you're probably going to do:

I do have one tip though: give everything momentum, just like real life.

Here's a very rough walking animation. Just trying stuff out before I commit to more polished pixel art.

A pose that's not the most boring thing ever.

And some abstract art.

The abstract thing is cool. It might look good as a straight up gradient, though. Also, the posing on that Eevee is pretty darn believable.

This is what it looks like as a gradient.

Ha.  I could see that being on a coat from the 90s.

80's. Everything that wasn't ridicoulous was ridicoulous.
